A billion dollars will be spent by major political campaigns online this cycle. The technology is... well, it's quite amazing what campaigns could do online if they were creative enough, but they remain somewhat captive to the safer instincts of conventional strategists.
When Donald Trump's campaign started to look more professional and less like an extension of his quest to stay relevant, I and others noticed that his social media presence was remarkable in one very tangible way: When his Twitter account uploaded a new tweet to the world, it was quite clear that his fingers had punched it out. The filter between Trump's brain and the thoughts he shared was tissue-thin.
I dare say that virtually none of the other candidates actually tweeted at the time. Tweets had to be run by someone, or many people, first. Not Trump's, for better or for worse. Turns out, mostly, for the better.
I wondered whether Trump would co-opt other social media, too. A new study by the folks at EPIServer, a digital content and marketing company, suggests that Trump has turned out to be proficient across the omnichannel more so than any other campaign. The company cites his "[h]ighly effective use of Twitter and Facebook; most tweets, second most followers and page likes of any candidate; noteworthy tweets clearly visible on website." Though Trump's website is comparatively barren, that's fine. No one supports Trump because of his website. He's adapted the social media formats that are best for him. EPIServer gave him its highest Digital Campaign Score a 75.

Okay, I like his tax reduction proposal, but what's up with 50% of the Country not paying taxes? Not fair. They owe an obligation to the legitimate welfare of this country like all.
Check out the new Ditch and Switch Plan the two sisters have:

What to do about it? There’s the other side of the ledger. Tighten up the welfare rolls to motivate them to pay there own way. The earn their own buck they keep their own buck.
Seriously? Just go away, then.
You come on a Trump thread to completely trash him, then praise his Tax Plan. Your comment about Trump/Cruz sounds pathetically desperate, at best.
I saw that!! I love it!
Diamond and Silk showing Dims how to switch parties, BEFORE the primaries, to vote Trump.
The vid they made, the other day, of them going to the Voter’s Registration office was great :)
I give them credit. They are enthusiastic and effective! When you go to you tube and read the comments the people are getting a YUGE kick out of them and taking their advice.
If he-man Texas would switch to winner-take-all on March 15, Texas could *almost* determine the GOP candidate.
Oh, wait! Texas always votes for the biggest RINO in the GOP primaries. Nevermind...
I agree about having skin in the game but you have to remember that this will also give boost to the economy.
The people who will not be paying income tax will be spending that money instead of it going to the government.
Of course and that was the way until the Opeaser did away with "work for welfare" that Newt started. If Trump supports a Congressional bill re-instating that, I'm all in.
SamAdams76 has done a great job of tracking Twitter growth, which a couple of days ago John Nolte at Breitbart said, “Matters.”
Ted’s done. Hate to tell ya. Trump is in fact the new type of candidate that will be needed to do battle in the 21st century. The Twitter numbers alone tell you a lot.
Sorry, I get to say my piece as much as you on this public forum.
"You come on a Trump thread to completely trash him, then praise his Tax Plan."
That's called being "discerning". Yes, I can trash him for being a goofy guy who appeals to the "cult of personality", and still recognize a decent tax reduction proposal. When did this board turn into a cheer leading squad for any one candidate? Oh yeah, way back when. It happens every election cycle.
I used to never get into these candidate discussions because I am a strict Constitutionalist and figured it to be fruitless. However, because the most Constitutional correct politician is running for the presidency (Ted Cruz), I'm inclined to state my opinion against a historically liberal now conservative wannabe...and I will continue.
What are you going to do about it? Huff and puff? Stamp your feet? Yell at me? Curse me upon your gods? Lighten up and let me have my say which I'll do anyway. Screw Trump.
Good to hear. Where has he posted his findings.
Without Trump, Cruz has exactly zero chance of ever winning the GOP nomination; just how many iterations of the nomination of RINO losers will it take to convince you of that? Before Trump entered the race, the fix was in, Jeb Bush was to be the nominee, Cruz et all, were merely the tools to be used to get Jeb to the top. Now with Trump in the race, it is no longer such a sure thing. You should not be wanting to punch Trump, you should get down on your knees and pray that he wins this, because if he does the GOP elites who are owned by the crony capitalists will no longer have a choke-hold on this party, there can be honest elections in the future with Cruz, Walker, and a lot of other great people beloved by the base having a good chance of winning presidential nominations and the White House. Without Trump, we face the bleak future of either a Hillary or Jeb presidency, and the likes of Lindsey Graham next time around. Please stop wishing things were the way you wish they were, and take a long hard look at the real world. Trump is our Hail Mary.
Maybe to some degree. Remember Pelosi's words that the more on unemployment insurance, the more they have to stimulate the economy? I see the same in your statement and Trump's plan regarding mo' money for the poor earners.
Bottom line: No one should get a free ride off the Fedgov (tax-payers) for essential services. It is contrary to our Founders' thinking. If you disagree with the last, do some study on the Federalist and anti-Federalist papers, publications, letters, diaries, Continental Congress debates of the greatest men this rock has ever produced. They did NOT agree with a free ride for anyone. They only believed in fair taxation (unlike King George) and to live while pursuing liberty and happiness.
Tend to believe since he hasn't gained much in the polls.
"Trump is in fact the new type of candidate that will be needed to do battle in the 21st century."
Yeah, that what we need is another "cult of personality" like Bill Clinton. However, if Trump manages to surround himself with the right people, he could be a success.
BTW, I put NO stock in Twitter numbers. Most are just talking to hear themselves talk, much like Facebook banal postings. "Gee whiz, I ran 2 miles today. Are you impressed that I shared this with you. We also went to dinner last night, how cool was that? We ordered, blah, blah, blah."
Mark my words, Americans will eventually grow tired of Facebook and Twitter. They can only spout their inane pablum for so long until they get bored with themselves. Even gamers have to move on from one game to another. Not saying social media will go extinct, but definitely reduced because it is simply boring.
Anyone believing himself able or deserving to run USA requires huge ego. As on every other subject, Trump is merely more frank about it than the rest.
