One commentator said Trump will be attacked on this, but I think it's a winner for Trump.

94 million Americans out of the workforce. People not counted if they give up. People segregated to 'disabled' who are, in fact, able bodied.

They completely cook the books.

People know they are unemployed even when the govt claims they aren’t.

Unemployment needs to be calculated by better means.

The public figure has become a joke, with only the government thinking it means anything any longer.

All it serves to do is put people on notice that our government is very corrupt.

Get ready for the lies.

Trump said he had HEARD from some economists it was up to 32%; some economists say it’s as high as 42%.

Economists declared those numbers. Trump didn’t just dream them up. Although most of us know the rate is far, far higher than is reported anyway.

he’s absolutely right. The figures are phony. We all know plenty of folks who left the workforce and never went back.

40% unemployment seems high but I just did a mental calculation of immediate friends and family and I come up with 30% of them being unemployed at the moment. This includes my wife who was laid off from HP. So 50% in my immediate family!

I say let the Democrats attack this. They are going to look foolish. That 5-6% garbage they keep putting out there is a crock.

Absolutely agreed.

I just ran into the son of a friend, fishing, last Sunday. Now, not to dispute that he has a problem (shoulder messed up by recent surgery mistake), but he’s basically saying “I can’t work again”, & wants to sue the Dr. on that basis, etc.

I’m saying to myself (as he talks about this) “WTF?”. This guy has limited motion of his shoulder (I’d say he has at least 60% strength and range of motion), appears to have no pain, and rehab could probably regain most of the strength. Yet his 1st option is to sue for disability on the basis he “can’t work” for the rest of his life. But he can drive, and fish, just fine! (I guess he got this from his Dad, who did the same d*** thing.) (I can’t criticize his Mom, she’s one of the hardest working friends I know.)

Despite being the son of a friend, I hope he loses the suit.

But, back to your main point, yes, Trump SHOULD attack the phony numbers. Most people will know he is right.

There are plenty of people between 18 and 65 who legitimately don’t want a job. There are college students, retirees, and housewives, for example.

OBAMA'S 'DOCTORED' JOBLESS RATES MASKS DANGER

The Bureau of Labor Force announcement that unemployment dropped from 6.3 percent in March to 6.1 percent in April was partly attributable to the more than 92 million Americans classified as out of the labor force, reducing the labor participation rate to 62.8 percent, a historic low dropout rate that has remained the same since April.

That's 37.2 Unemployment for July last year.

Do keep in mind that not everyone of te 94,000,000 who do not work outside the home are “unemployed”. My wife stays at home and homeschools our three children. She, and millions of other home-makers should not be pressured to work outside the home to be regarded as socially meaningful.

They completely cook the books.

I think it's Trump that is cooking the books on this one. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics there are 261 million people in this country over the age of 16 who are not in the military and not institutionalized. Of those, 157 million are employed. So the difference between the two is where the 94 million figure comes from; 94 million people over 16 who are not in the military or an institution and who are not employed. About 37%. Now of that 94 million, how many are between 16 and 18 and still in high school? How many are between 18 and 22 and in college? How many are over 62 and are retired? How many are out of the work force by choice; stay-at-home moms and the like? How many are medically unable to work? Until you factor those in then how can Trump or you or anyone say the unemployment rate is 40%?

At the very beginning of Reagan’s first term, the Today show had some labor expert and the Today show talking head was commenting and asking about the unemployment rate.

The Labor guy said this along these lines”
“If a person is unemployed the that persons real rate is 100%”.

Pretty much summed it up in a nut shell and I never forgot that.

Again he is simply saying what many millions of people have thought 100 times about the fake unemployment rate.

He has an amazing ability to unmask popular lies.

GO TRUMP...!!

The only potential issue I see with this is that it implicates both parties, especially those in the Congressional majorities. If the real UE numbers are up, why aren’t the Republicans investigating this? The Obama administration is reporting and taking credit for reducing the UE rate; why aren’t these numbers challenged? Is the method wrong? Find out why, and fix it.

he’s right on!

outside of several specialized fields (and some retail), there are basically NO jobs for people who want to work....even in supposedly ‘properous’ areas...

Trump is also right about many of our jobs having moved (and are still moving) to China and Mexico, etc.

This is not entirely due to the causes Trump says, but the result is the same ... and whoever we elect has to correct this problem. It is destroying America ....
as the youth cannot get employment...(so they go criminal, go on welfare, or run up educational loan debts they will never repay).

We need an accurate way to measure the underemployment rate, though it is difficult to do. That seems to be the real issue.

Nobody can doubt that the economy has been gutted by OZero. Remember 2008? Wall Street went into a panic once it was clear that the Kenyan national was ahead in the polls.

Lending stopped. Investing stopped. What could have been a small setback for the economy turned into a catastrophe. We lost Lehman Brothers and millions of jobs just in anticipation of OZero’s neo-Maoist policies.

Since then, things have only gotten worse.
