Rumors of Donald Trumps demise may have been greatly exaggerated.
Ever since rival Carly Fiorina was widely perceived to have bested Trump at the second GOP debate in California on Sept. 16, media outlets have been lining up to suggest that the front-runner is waning.
Trump has hit back with characteristic vigor. But he has a point, independent observers say.
The reality is that he does have a hold on some people and he doesnt appear to be surrendering it, said Mark Mellman, a veteran Democratic pollster who is also a columnist for The Hill.
Much of the negative media attention has been built around a single poll in the immediate aftermath of the debate, by CNN/ORC.
The survey showed the businessmans support among Republican voters nationwide had declined by 8 percentage points since the last survey from the same source, less than two weeks before.
That was a sizable decline, to be sure even though Trump still led his closest rival by 9 percentage points. But no other reputable poll since the debate has shown Trump falling by anything like that margin.
A survey from Fox News released earlier this week showed the businessman at 26 percent support nationally, an increase of 1 point since Foxs last survey in mid-August. A Bloomberg poll gave him 21 percent good enough for a 5-point lead over the field and an unchanged rating since the last poll from the financial news outlet at the beginning of August.
The picture is not substantially different in the crucial early states and, in some cases, it is even better for Trump.
The Democratic-leaning firm Public Policy Polling (PPP) released a new survey from Iowa this week in which Trump polled at 24 percent a 5-point rise

I honestly think only Trump can bring down Trump.
HOORAY Trump
The survey showed the businessmans support among Republican voters nationwide had declined by 8 percentage points since the last survey from the same source, less than two weeks before.
So then why doesn't Trump boycott CNN?
As far as I believe the Bushes were a song and dance bunch for the Sheiks of Saudi Arabia. Such needed to be put in rhyme and music.
George (the Pill) Will just said so on Fox Sunday.
WINNING!!!
Yeah, ri-i-i-ight. He's their boy.
Folks...you have to realize that MSNBC & CNN did not fall into the cesspool of low viewership quickly. They earned their way there by their left-wing, Obamabot love fest!! The gracious American people give everyone a fair chance, and then when the true colors of a media outlet surface, for what they really are, that network slowly dies on the vine!!
The same action is now beginning with the FOX News Channel!!! However....I do believe that Roger Ailes will fall on his sword next week when he meets with Donald Trump. I also believe that Trump will demand that Megyn Kelly be fired. That will happen about 6-12 months down the road!!! Ailes cannot not have a major loss of viewers in that key time slot in prime time without it badly hurting the FNC ratings across the board. Ms. Kelly is already down about 300,000 to 400,000 viewers per night. The Pope’s numbers were tepid at best!!!
But Kelly is only a small part of Ailes troubles!!! Chris Wallace, Bret Baier, Dana Perino, George Will, Charles Krauthammer, and five or six more of the FNC folks, etc...need to be shown the door!!!
One of the following, will win the GOP nominations for POTUS...Trump, Carson, Fiorina, Marco Rubio or, Ted Cruz. the rest of the POTUS nominee field can be thrown in the wannabee, but never wil be, garbage can!!!
Mr. Ailes should take serious note of the “wise” Pope’s 180 degree trunover during his visit to the USA!!! Despite the good response the Pontiff received in the USA, it was no way near what the media predicted!!! The Pope quickly realized his foray into USA politics was poison for him, and he quickly shifted to his defense and support of family!!!
There is a lesson there for Mr. Ailes and his GOP (e) RINO friends to learn. There is politcal revolution asea in th land, and it is going to change the face of America for the better!!! Mr. Ailes, best open his eyes...and get into the game...or he will be nowhwere, when the conservative steamroller rolls over him and destroys FNC!!! The process of destruction of FNC has already begun.....Ailes better move quickly and make the changes necessary to halt this process!!! And....I can asssure you, pandering to the likes of Megyn Kelly, Chris Wallace, George Wiil & Charles Krauthammmer, etc. will get him no benefit, whatsoever!!! Am really surprised that Ailes, ever let himself get into this Lose/Lose fiasco!!! Must be listening to that fool and senile Rupert Murdoch!!! Shame!!!
Morning Joe on MSNBC is worth watching...
By the time the MSM figures out how they’ve HELPED IMMENSELY in ELEVATING Trump’s popularity it will be too late for them to do anything but deliver the headline “Trump Wins in a Landslide!”
This is despite the Daily Mail et al's attempt to invent a fight between the Pope and Trump.
I’ve stopped watching Fox News. I’m now getting most of my news here.
Have not turned Fox on since Rich Lowery’s excellent misadventure.
Thanks for the ping/link!
It is interesting that they are mainstream Spanish and yet have OANN!
Besides, race, (today Hispanic/African American), throw in gun owners, union members who work in construction and other blue collar real work jobs, people living in vile left wing areas like the Gay Frisco/Marvelous Marin/Silicon Valley, the wino counties north east and south of Gay Frisco, teachers and other liberal dominated work/living areas, who are afraid to say they will vote for Trump to make his support even higher:
“The Bradley Effect is a phenomenon that occurs because many people are afraid to give a LIVE pollster a true answer, when the answer is CONTROVERSIAL.
“The Bradley Effect is NOT only about race, (if you think it is, youre missing the point.) Instead, the phenomenon occurs ANY time an election with a controversial figure or topic is discussed.
“Ive stopped watching Fox News. Im now getting most of my news here.”
I’m doing the same.
Faux news for us died on Sat/Sunday mornings and afternoon even before the Trump issue.
For a couple of years when Faux news had their not fair and balanced bs on, Faux news got shut off. So whenever, Alan, Juan or any lib showed up Faux news got turned off.
Outnumbered has become a bunch of screaming women on both sides.
After their MK slamming Trump bs, we have basically eliminated Faux News.
I’m sure we aren’t the only ones.
Agreed!
Ding, ding, ding - we have a thread winnah!
That aligns perfectly with what some haters here on FR believe too.
Neither Mellman, nor the Freeping Haters think we are smart enough, independent enough, to back Trump for what he promotes.
