On September 24, Pope Francis scolded Congress for guns and weapons which are manufactured in America and sold around the world.
He said he was determined “to minimize and, in the long term, to end the many armed conflicts throughout our world,” as he addressed the billion-dollar sales from American companies that he sees as a contributing factor to conflicts abroad.
According to The Intercept, Pope Francis said:
Here we have to ask ourselves: Why are deadly weapons being sold to those who plan to inflict untold suffering on individuals and society? Sadly, the answer, as we all know, is simply for money: money that is drenched in blood, often innocent blood. In the face of this shameful and culpable silence, it is our duty to confront the problem and to stop the arms trade.

What he should have said: Why are dead babies an their body parts being sold to those who plan to inflict untold suffering on individuals and society? Sadly, the answer, as we all know, is simply for money: money that is drenched in blood, often innocent blood. In the face of this shameful and culpable silence, it is our duty to confront the problem and to stop the baby body parts trade.
Tonight on NPR (can’t get any other stations on my radio here) someone said he is threatening excommunication to weapon manufactures in Milan.
So many bad things happening in the world, and this is what he addresses? I’m sorry, but this is wrong.
What next, everyone in the military.
JUST MAYBE, these weapons are being sold to people to defend themselves from uncertain groups like ISIS.... Used to be the POPES had standing armies. I wonder if he has ever asked the world to forgive all of the people whom the POPES over the centuries have murdered.

If I understand correctly, the plain meaning is he is against weapons-of-war sales to people like the Saudis.
