WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) today issued the following statement on Pope Francis’ speech to Congress:
“It was an honor to have Pope Francis address Congress. It was a powerful call for all of us to set aside pettiness and partisan divides and come together with shared values to solve the very real challenges facing this country, and I hope that is a message that is heard on both sides of the aisle. Pope Francis is a powerful voice for life. He is powerful voice for marriage. He is a powerful voice for religious liberty. Pope Francis is a great spiritual leader, and his message inspires us to work tirelessly to protect the dignity of each person, born and unborn, and to, like President Lincoln and Reverend King, pursue justice for all, and to engage in public dialog with humility and wisdom. Right now, as Pope Francis highlighted, the family is threatened from within and without. It is our duty to cultivate the ‘richness and the beauty of the family life’ that is ‘essential to the building of this country.’ I hope his words renewed our resolve to inspire our young people to rekindle the dream that has made this the land of the free.”
Cruz sounds like a statesman and a dignified head of state!
...a miserable revolution theology leftist loon.

But any more of this, then Ted will merge into suckup territory.
'And peoples yet uncreated shall praise and magnify the LORD' (Ps. 102:18).
Ted Cruz walks the walk: “I hope during his visit we are each reminded of our call to see every person with the eyes of Christ.”
And someone flim-flammed by rhetoric.
No driving home the MURDERS of 50,000,000 infants. No condemnation of fake “marriage” and homosexuality.
A statesman and dignified head of state? I don’t see or hear that at all in this.
There goes Ted being a politician again.
He’d have done better just to remain quiet.
Ted, being a Catholic, I would have liked to read about his “real” take on the Pope [and his visit to the U.S.].
Bobby Jindal, a Catholic, spoke up [this is from yesterday] on same: http://www.buzzfeed.com/andrewkaczynski/bobby-jindal-im-not-obligated-as-catholic-to-agree-with-pope#.kaepXQmrN
Sorry to hear Ted say this. The Pope failed to inspire me in any way. His message to embrace strangers it the opposite what we tell our children to do. The Pope should stick to theology and stay out of politics
I’ve been supporting Cruz since I first heard him speak (long time ago!) and I’m liking him more every day.
Gag me with a spoon.
A preview of how he would govern as a statesman.
Could not disagree with Cruz more. He tries to be too cute sometimes for his own good. Should have stayed silent. His press release impressed no conservative.
The Pope is a communist. And useless in defense of life and liberty. After what’s been going on in this country, relative to the PP videos, for him to not even utter the word abortion is unforgivable. He’s a social justice warrior. Nothing more. Nothing less.
The Pope’s objective in Cuba was to affirm the Castros in their okayness.
His objective in the U.S. was to affirm Biden, Pelosi, Kerry, etc., in the Catholicism and support for fetal vivisection. And he issued a warning to the bishops: No one is to disturb Pelosi, Biden, Kerry, etc., with “harsh, divisive” talk.
So the American bishops have orders from the Pope: be nice to pro-abort Catholics.
Ive been supporting Cruz since I first heard him speak (long time ago!) and Im liking him more every day.
But, but, he didn’t eviscerate the Pope and by extension all the Catholics in the country...don’t you see the heresy? Don’t you get his rank apostasy? He could’ve reamed the Pope a new one, but he failed to do so...O the shame and disgrace...
How can you come on this website with words of praise for someone who did not mention the Pope and an F-bomb in the same sentence...?
The Pope coming here has me looking at any Catholic candidate
Which of course you were not doing prior to his visit, no doubt...
