The shot is pretty far away but I am guessing MIG-29s (Fulcrum).

If the Russians are re-fueling over Homs that means they are returning from strikes on ISIS over Raqqa (ISIS’ so called capital)?

That's a pretty good video. I wonder if it was taken with a cell phone?

Looks like Floggers to me. I don’t think Russia would risk losing their CURRENT fighter models over Syria, just as we most likely wouldn’t use F-22’s, but rather F-18’s.
To: BenLurkin
Being called Russian means that this is something Syrians have not seen before or they would have assumed it was local regime air force? I don’t see markings at that resolution?

Old Ben is just a lowly civilian puke, but I don’t think Syria has any aerial tankers, and I doubt Syrian pilots could fly that ‘formation’ safely.

Also, that might be an escort mission not a refueling event. Protecting precious cargo those fighters were.

Obama’s response will be to give Syria to Russia, and evacuate their radical muslim enemies to Western Europe
Problem solved!

The MIG F-29 Fulcrum is pretty much the same as the F/A 18 Hornet.
The Fulcrum is Variable Geometry which makes it similar to the F-14 Tomcat — we retired that (beautiful) bird due to both politics and the maintenance overhead that VG creates. I suspect Russia did the same for the Mig 27 Fulcrum.
But I am guessing here based on the video and recent history.

OOps — I meant the Mig 27 Flogger, not Fulcrum (Mig 29).

Look like SU-24 Fencers to me, similar to the old F-111s.

If you pause the video to stop the shaking, it looks to me like a Candid refueling sone sort of swing wing, probably too small for Backfires, so I would guess SU-24 Fencers.
