Matt Drudge...sent a message Sunday morning excoriating Pope Francis during his trip to Cuba, depicting the head of the Catholic Church alongside Raul Castro and suggesting Francis would rather ignore the plight of political dissidents than endanger his warm welcome from the Castro regime.
A prayer for those locked up in cruel Cuba this morning for dissent, as pope basks in glow of adulation from masses..
Activists have criticized the Pope for failing to plan any meetings with Cuban political dissidents during his visit to the Communist Caribbean nationwhile the government flagrantly and contemporaneously persecutes its Catholics. Just last week, the government violently arrested more than 50 protesters, mostly women, after attending Sunday mass.
In the week before the trip, a reporter asked Francis about Havanas record on human rights and religious freedom, prompting only a tepid response of, essentially, other countries are just as bad.

And where would the poor go to be healed, educated, and fed once the buildings are sold? Where would the orphans go? Out on the streets to become child sex slaves?I didn't say sell all the buildings. I said sell some of the billions of dollars worth of art in the basement of the Vatican.
How many would die because you sold the hospitals? If you sold every chalice Holy Mass could not be offered to the glory of God.
No one suggested to sell the hospitals. The Vatican owns hospitals? Well good for them, put some of the poor and downtrodden there and a couple of thousand in the Vatican mansion. The pope doesn't live there, so should be plenty of room.
There are millions of poverty stricken Catholics that tithe, use some of that money to help the poor.
Oh, so you went to Mass one time with one Priest and know all. Hmmm... Ok. How condescending! DVR the Christmas Mass on TV and try to tell me the Pope or Catholic Church is more interested in a building than Jesus Christ. You don’t know what you’re talking about. And on the spirituality issueâ YOU brought that up. YOU said the Pope wasn’t spiritual only political. Now you say spirituality doesn’t matter? My mom was Catholic, my Dad baptist, my Aunts Methodist. I’ve attended many different churches and services. And I’ve seen how other Christians make assumptions and have no clue what goes on a block away at the Catholic Church or even at other Protestant denominations, but are quick to judge. Sad, really.
That was my point. The local groups, Catholic Charities, St. Vincent de Paul, the Sisters of Mercy, Sisters of the Good Shepard, the good sisters of many religious orders. Many of them live in close to poverty. Remember the congressman who was a priest. I can’t remember his name. He lived in an unadorned dormitory room when in Washington. Unfortunately he was a far left liberal. But he practiced what he preached.
Comment indicates you have no comprehension of what the Mass is or why it is celebrated. It's not for your entertainment, for starters.
I would add every Pope has started out a poor Priest. Why is it wrong if we Catholics choose to celebrate the one who has worked up to Pope? He has over a billion members of his faith!
Why do you deride the Pope?
Cuz he`s a scumbag, collectivist fake Pope.
These charities you praise get billions each year from US taxpayers. Perhaps it is deceptive to be calling them Catholic.
Um, because he’s a Commie?
She is talking about the billions of dollars of fine art and treasures that the vatican holds not a couple of hospital.
but you knew that.
Man! You are a poet and don't know it, but yer feet show it, cause they're Longfellows!!!
Wooo, Matt Drudge! Thank you.
-- All popes felt lonely when they had to take decisions. Leone says that it can't be avoided.
-- George is the reporter on the coronation of Kiril. All cardinals oppose Pope Kiril's idea. Kiril offers his abdicadtion. Leone immediately says no.
-- Immediately after being crowned, Pope Kiril pledges all the wealth of the church to pay for food for China's people.
That art belongs to all of us, it is our patrimony. Why sell it and have it divided all over the world in private hands where only the wealthy could behold?
I believe it is the first time a Pope has addressed a Joint Session of Congress.
The charities I speak of wouldn’t be in existence without the Catholic Church and the support they receive from Catholics. Every dollar a Catholic donates to these charities, every volunteer hour and material donation, equals one less tax dollar tax payers have to supply to aid the poor. And as a Catholic I volunteer and am also a tax payer and conservative.
Thanks, but I went to a Mass one time - it was the most boring thing Ive ever attended.
Perhaps you did not get in sync with the standing/kneeling/seating. ;)
