Jersey City is expanding the health care it offers city workers to include coverage for transgender medical care and related procedures, including gender reassignment surgery.
Mayor Steve Fulop is expected to make the announcement tomorrow afternoon. City officials say Jersey City will be the first large city in the state, and one of a few in the nation, to offer such coverage.
"Government has a responsibility to be a legitimizing force, to pull people in the direction of what is right, especially on LGBT issues" Fulop says in a statement provided to The Jersey Journal. "We're making sure that our transgender neighbors get the care they need."

Well of course we have to cover sex change surgery, cut off this and alter that. We have to prove how liberal we are by having such policies. We have to bend over backwards so that liberals and grievance groups can’t say we are bigoted against them.
NJ nancy-boys.
I would have a huge problem with our bloated FedGov wasting money on mutilating people who are mentally ill, but I’m okay with Jersey City doing it. I don’t pay taxes there and won’t even visit, so it’s a decision for them to make without my input. I think it’s sad and cruel to slice off genitals before the mentally ill person understand that the problem is between the ears and not between the legs, but they have the right to make their local government as cruel as they wish, within the constraints of the Bill of Rights.
The pendulum will swing on this crap and that won’t be the only thing swinging.
On the flip side, once Jersey City pays doctors to mutilate mentally ill men who want to look vaguely like women, there's some things that won't be swinging.
Never set foot in NJ is my new motto.
Why would I ever subjugate my daughter or her kids to a restroom filled with men?
LMAO!!
Right! Crispy Crème, where are you?
I guess I stay confused on this issue. Will they one day get a free vasectomy or a free hysterectomy?
