The New York Times is reporting that Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is withdrawing from the 2016 race:
Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin has concluded he no longer has a path to the Republican presidential nomination and plans to drop out of the 2016 campaign, according to three Republicans familiar with his decision, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
[…]
The short answer is money, said a supporter of Mr. Walkers who was briefed on the decision. Hes made a decision not to limp into Iowa.
There will be a live press conference at 6pm EST. Walker was seen as a strong contender for the Republican nomination, given his backstory and record as the governor of Wisconsin. He was leading in the polls in Iowa, but saw a precipitous decline in support throughout the summer. The latest CNN/ORC poll seems to have been the final nail in the coffin, as Walker barely drew 1 percent in the polls.
Gov. Walker is the second candidate to drop out of the race. The first was former Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who suspended his campaign earlier this month.
Updates to follow after the press conference.
He just bashed Trump and encouraged others in the race to drop out and take down the front runner. So, you are on my crap list now - Walker.
I like Walker too. It isn’t his time. Not looking forward to the media going over and over this ad nauseum.
Yes.
Those who are dropping out or polling very low, will screw their chances of any job in the federal government if they continue to bash Trump - should he win. They can blame Trump all they want - but, I thought this was what politics are all about - take out your opponents. None cared when Romney did it, but with Trump - they are coming out with guns ablazing - I lost respect for Walker over those comments.
I complete agree. This is sad. Presidential candidates should not have to drop their pants in public to get sufficient attention to be elected. I hope Senator Cruz stays in.
THANKS IOWA....YOU PUKED IT!!
Okay, Walker fans, who is your #2 pick?
So Walker aid says Walker bailed just ahead of a scandal: “Walker’s timing is good. Word is he just avoided getting tied to a very bad story that could well have been coming.” Anyone have idea what this is? CW?
Oh, just shady real estate deals/bribery, drug dealing family, etc. Nothing GOPe finds problem with. /s
typical we-eat-our-own republican. Not a peep about Hillary in his exit speech, rather he exits the republican race throwing rocks at republicans.
unreal
I hope you meant “except for Santorum, he is a Class act” as sarcasim. I’d rather see Graham stay in instead of Santorum. What a dislikable person.
They are all bitter - but most of them started it with Trump and didn’t like it when he hit back. He was supposed to tuck his tail between his legs and crawl off into a cave I guess. I will promise this much - if one of the RINOs gets the nomination, we might as well say hello to another 4 years of a commie DEMONCRAT in the WH.
Her Cincy, your boi is history ... Chuckle ...
Maybe he should have stood on his tip toes to make himself look taller.
This wasn’t very nice of you. I have bantered back and forth with Mrs. Will over the months, but, she was passionate about her candidate. No need to rub anyone’s nose in a defeat - that’s just classless.
Thank you Jesus. :-)
Walker quit. He defeated himself.
Sad singin and slow walking going on at CW’s house. :-)
Sore Looooooooooooooooooser!
