I was a student in London in 1975-76. My peers, all white English, HATED Britain. Not as much as they hated America, of course, but they hated her nonetheless.

It’s always seemed curious to me.

Some Brits will pick on Americans who let them do so because they (some Brits) HAVE to feel superior to SOMEBODY. If you want to start a barfight, just go into any pub and say something positive about Margaret Thatcher. I was recently abroad and ran into an ‘educated’ Brit who was ranting about guns and the ‘redneck’ governor of South Carolina. Imagine his chagrin when I politely informed him that Governor Nikki Haley is of South Asian (Indian) ancestry. Last time he spoke to me that trip, thankfully. @$$hole.

I know a very liberal American woman who used to be a dancer, but quite after marrying a Muslim who considers dancing a sin.

You cannot fix suicidal. The poor girl was lost. She had no pride, fight or sense of history.

The hard part was that she was nice, smiling, positive and witty on other topics like music, her child, food, travel, etc.

It’s just when she just seemed to give up on the UK it was odd. Do they want Sharia Law? Do they want to be repressed? Do they hate Christ that much?

I was perplexed. Her friends also shared the same sentiment.

Think of how Hollywood has portrayed the British over the last 40 years. They are watching a lot of the same movies. It's a subtle brainwashing. That seeps in through the culture.

I am currently watching "Turn" on Netflix, about General Washington's spies during the Revolution. There is one British Captain on there who is borderline psychotic. It is one of the more disturbing portrayals of a "lobster back" I've ever seen...with Captain Randall from the Outlander series taking the number one position on the list of psychotic British captains.

That kind of stuff has an effect eventually.
