She says this on a podcast with Fox colleague Chris Stirewalt.
Dana: Do you think any of them run as a third party?
Stirewalt: No, Paul has been a loyal foot soldier for Mitch McConnell, he ain't gonna do that. And Ted Cruz ain't gonna do that. Could Trump still -- he's not gonna get --
Dana: I don't think it would be Trump.
Stirewalt: Who would it be?
Dana: I'm gonna hold my cards.
She advertised this on The Five and gave a big Chessire Cat grin like she's not speculating, like she knows something.
So: Who? Well, first of all, Perino is obviously very tapped into the Bush camp. And Bush would have the money (presumably) to mount a third party campaign.
Given that this comes down to money, it could be she's talking about Romney, though the initial question about any of them (that is, the candidates) running third party suggests she doesn't mean Romney.
Maybe she was just being misleading there.
Could she mean Bush? Could she possibly mean that Bush is considering a third party run?
Open thread. I know, terrible week of blogging. But seriously last night went really late.

Did Dana choose the Paula White facelift or was it the other way ‘round?
I think Trump could register on BOTH the dem and gop primaries and win both
I thought she was talking about Carson. Who knows? She’s a total Bushbot.
So grade school like. Like the kid who stands up and says I’ve got a secret but I’m not telling!
They probably never allowed her and Condi to be alone in the same room.
If it is Jeb Bush....he would be lucky to get 1-2% of the vote!!! I cannot stand Dana Perino....she is just like Megyn Kelly, a hateful witch!!! I would suugest that FNC dump thes idiots....but it is Fox News Channel that has jumped the shark!!!
Carly or Paul?
Yes. Supposedly ALL the Republican candidates signed the pledge to support the Nominee and not run third party!
But I already observed Bobby Jindal refusing to answer a direct question asking him if he will support Trump if he is the nominee. Jindal was asked three times, and would NOT say yes. Instead he went on a Trump bashing ti-rate saying “we have to stop him!”
So it would not surprise me if Jeb goes for running third party. But guess what! It won't work! Jeb will NOT take Florida. I know the feelings in our Sunshine State! :)
Dana Perino is a useless tool of the Bush dynasty. Whoever will run third party will need a ton of money for - apart from anything else - there is no party apparatus for a non existent party. Presidential elections are state-run elections. You have to have an apparatus in every state to get your name out. The RNC and DNC have offices, staff, and a whole host of things like that in multiple locations within each state to coordinate messaging - and those offices stay open all year long. Good luck to a 3rd party candidate who has to rely on Other People’s Money to setup a network like that, especially at this late stage.
The GOPe does not want an outsider or conservative to win. They will even torpedo Rep candidates. The same happened in the VA governor's race.
If the goal is to make sure an effective conservative doesn’t win, it just could be true.
I’ve stopped seeing these blathering political “experts” as anything but incompetent buffoons, frauds and tricksters. They never predict anything correctly. They are just another profession of con artists like educators and psychologists.
The thrid party candidate doesn’t need to win the election. Just disrupt it enough to allow the Dem to win. I don’t think it takes many resources. Look at how many votes the Ron Paul/Gary Johnson 3rd party plays in 2012. Enough to make a significant difference (despite Romney’s low appeal w Conservatives).
No mistype on my part.
“J” is pronounced more like an “H” in Spanish, which is the preferred language I hear is used in that particular Boosh household.
Heb!
(How do I make an upside-down exclamation point on my English keyboard, or can I?)
The Libertarian Party is the best bet for someone like Rand Paul whose father ran as a candidate for President on the Libertarian ticket in 1988.
Sorry. Never do think of Murkowski, but you raised a valid point which I finally have absorbed.
Looks like it’s quite an election season we’re headed into. Wonder if any good will come out of it. Here’s hoping we’re all still around to see.
Gary Johnson received 1,275,923 votes (0.99% of the total vote) in 2012 on the Libertarian party ticket. He did not make a significant difference. And how many of these Libertarian votes would have gone to Romney or Obama? Would they have even voted at all if there was no Libertarian candidate?
Dems stick together AND WIN.
I don’t see Burney doing anything other than quietly going back to the Senate.
It may be short, but it is O! so wide.
