Jeb Bush says it will cost "hundreds of billions of dollars" to deport illegal aliens. President Eisenhower, however, deported a million alone in the space of a year, and with only 750 deportation agents, in an operation with a name we would never use today: Operation Wetback.
Some 750 agents swept northward through agricultural areas with a goal of 1,000 apprehensions a day. By the end of July, over 50,000 aliens were caught... Another 488,000, fearing arrest, had fled the country. By September, 80,000 had been taken into custody in Texas, and an estimated 500,000 to 700,000 illegals had left the Lone Star State voluntarily.
Unlike today, Mexicans caught in the roundup were not simply released at the border, where they could easily reenter the US. To discourage their return, Swing arranged for buses and trains to take many aliens deep within Mexico before being set free.
Tens of thousands more were put aboard two hired ships, the Emancipation and the Mercurio. The ships ferried the aliens from Port Isabel, Texas, to Vera Cruz, Mexico, more than 500 miles south.
The sea voyage was "a rough trip, and they did not like it," says Don Coppock, who worked his way up from Border Patrolman in 1941 to eventually head the Border Patrol from 1960 to 1973.

If there weren’t so many able-bodied people receiving a welfare cheque to sit at home, there would be plenty of people to “do the jobs Americans don’t want to do.” Why the heck would they work if the government is stupid enough to pay them to NOT work.
If I could be a benevolent dictator for a few years, first thing I’d do is notify able-bodied people who have been on the take for years that their cheques are going to start getting smaller every 3 months, until they’re off the dole. A little hunger is a good motivator.
I would add one more, ban money transfers to Mexico (and a handful of other countries) by any non-citizen here in America. Citizens caught transferring for illegals are prosecuted and heavily fined.
Ah, but Eisenhower was the General who OK’d Operation Overlord. Can you imagine Jebbie having Generals like Eisenhower or Patton or MacArthor under his command? Remember his reply to Megyn Kelly about going into Iraq?

No one on TV or any of the Candidates has ever mentioned what happens if we suddenly send 20 million jobless Mexicans back home. Apparently this is like half their economy.
This WILL BE an issue, people. Let’s not think about it THEN let’s think about it now.
Build the fence double thick with land mines and armed guards and let them solve it themselves? You’re probably talking civil war- that might now be a bad thing for mexico.

Except that under the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 what they were able to do in the 1950’s wouldn’t hold true today. You can’t just round them up and put them on buses and trains. Plus Mexico would probably stop the buses and trains at their borders. Remember we have a lot of non-Mexican illegals and Mexico has a strict immigration policy. How do we determine which country they came from?
That is certainly one solution.

The problem, as I see it, with busing or shipping them far enough south of the border is that the powers that be on that side of the border wouldn’t allow the buses to cross the border or the ships to dock.
Ship a bunch on each plane to Cancun or any other tourist spot. Do they want tourists or not? All or none.
Still say they fed and housed them before. They won’t all arrive at one time. Apparently between Ford and Nabisco there will be new jobs. I am tired of them living here on tax dollars. Same with Muslims let the countries there in middle east take them?
