New Barrier for Immigrants: Texas Birth Certificate
New York Times ^ | 9/17/2015 | MANNY FERNANDEZ

Posted on 09/18/2015 4:41:44 AM PDT by HomerBohn

McALLEN, Tex. — At the Republican debate Wednesday and throughout the campaign, candidates led by Donald J. Trump have assailed illegal immigration, and some have questioned whether children who are born to immigrants in this country illegally should be considered American citizens.

But here on the Texas border some communities are engaged in activities that go beyond talk, enforcing some of the toughest rules in the country limiting the types of ID parents can show to receive copies of birth certificates. The result has been a refusal to issue birth certificates to many of the Texas-born children of immigrants here illegally.

The state says it is a matter of adequate verification. Organizations that advocate on immigrants’ behalf see anti-immigrant sentiments turned into anti-immigrant policies — with the goal of making it harder for illegal immigrants to live and raise families in Texas. The requirements have spurred a lawsuit against the state and opposition from Hispanic lawmakers, immigrant rights activists and even officials from Mexico.

Thanks Senor Fernandez for this heart=rending piece about Texas doing what all other states should be doing. Get back over that border and take your mores and your diseases with you. Oh, and don't forget your bedbugs and lice.

Border jumpers have no rights or entitlements here whatsoever and anyone who feels they do needs to have their head examined.

No one can FORCE a country to make them a citizen without its consent.

You can’t cross the border ILLEGALLY and then drop a kid, and demand that the country support you and the baby.

What kind of moron would write laws to allow this? The democraps want to INTERPRET the law that way, but no sane person would have wrote the law with that intention.

Harder? Why is it even possible?

Let’s have some facts here.

Texas is refusing to issue birth certificates from guardians of US Citizens, said guardians cannot or won’t produce legally required documents to do so. Texas doesn’t recognize a Mexican Consular Driveby ID as valid ID for purposes of issuing a birth certificate that can be used to obtain a valid US Passport.

There are two options for these illegals: 1) have another person who CAN present the recognized document become the legal guardian of the child, or 2) go the hell back to Mexico and get the documents you probably already had to start with.

The truth of this is that if these people were required to REALLY prove who they are/were in Mexico, that documentation would likely not match the fake IDs and provenance they have created here with their Consular Driveby IDs (which can probably be had just walking into the consular satellite office and saying “Buenos Dias, Senor.”

Screw these illegals. Go home and get the ID documents or shut the f@ck up.

Option 2 would be best.

I cannot imagine leaving my country and not taking documents who proved who I used to be UNLESS I was up to no good and didn’t want them on me if I got caught.

Does Texas not automatically mail a valid copy of the birth certificate to parents? When my kids were born (in New York), we filled out a form in the hospital, the hospital sent it to the Dept of Health, and about two weeks later, we received a birth certificate in the mail.

Depends on when your kids were born. They’ve tightened up all that since 9/11. They just don’t hand them out now without some kind of documentation that is provably real any more.

These people (from south of the Rio) are dumber than a sack of hammers.
You can look into their eyes and see mental nothingness.

When did any of these Latin countries produce a Nobel winner for science, medicine, etc., etc?

They are the refuse that Mexican Castilian Elitists do not want. They don’t want them because they provide no value-added to Mexico except when they leave and send money home.

Bingo. It amuses me how little people actually know about Mexico and who actually runs it. There are no “brown” Mexicans in charge it is all European descent people from Spain and Germany. Does the average person ever ask why most all the actors on Mexican soaps are white with blue/green eyes and blonde/red hair?

Thanks for the info. Different states, different procedures, I guess (my kids were both born well after 9/11, certificates were definitely sent by mail).

I remember my daughter having to provide a copy of HER BC plus marriage license to get them for her daughters.

Really? Wow, I’m glad I didn’t have to jump through those hoops.

The only time I had to show ID was to get my daughter’s social security card. And that was only because the hospital administrator who submitted the paperwork misspelled my daughter’s name, which created a mismatch between the social security paperwork and her birth certificate. Took about three months, and four visits to various offices, to get everything sorted out.

I am glad they do this, actually. I don’t want the produce of unsubstantiated people getting a birth certificate that will allow them to get an official US Passport.

The more difficult and exhausting we make it for these illegals to exist here, the better.

The new drivers license requirements here in Georgia now are extensive with multiple forms of ID and proof of residence required - even for renewals! I was more than glad to comply if it keeps some effing little Jose from staying here in my state.
