Forty employees in the Census Bureau

Look harder. There’s GOT to be drugs and rock and roll in there, too! ;)
Wouldn't it just be easier to withhold from future paychecks? Looks like the Census Bureau is AFGE.
As an amateur genealogist, I’m still upset about that 1890 census!
I believe the term is FUBAR !
Furthermore , it puts all the Census data in question since criminality is so prevelent and rampant !
During ‘09, I was babysitting my sister’s 275lb English Mastiff and just left the door open on the acreage for him. The Census chicks - about 4 different ones all driving brand new SUVs with UT or TA&M bumper stickers spent probably 10 trips and 15 phone calls and 5 cert. letters trying to get me to answer.
God knows what the final answer was for my ‘homestead’. Or cost, for that matter.

That was my first thought. Maybe some of these blue states don’t merit their number of Representatives.
I worked the 2000 census on third shift. I came away with the absolute belief that the regional organization was run on local political networking.
The first interview made it perfectly clear that preferential hiring would hold jobs open for Veterans (no problem), women (?), disabled, and "people of color". I got a call back about a month later. Apparently they ran out of people who were willing to work...
I wound up teaching seminars on IT subjects to the management level types who were supposed to already know the subject. The regional manager was a "big gun" Realtor. He sat in his office and diddled away eight hours and then went home.

Thanks MarvinStinson.
Democrats set it up so employees are rewarded for having birthdays - not for being competent.
It’s why government sucks - and why most of these lowlifes are democrats.
I had hoped that this Greater Depression would lead to elimination of government waste (here in NJ a lot of the most recently-hired cops & teachers lost their jobs because there was no money left); apparently this isn’t happening on a national or federal level. The strain is really showing here in NJ, where the infrastructure is falling apart and there is no money left to fix (and each day less & less people to tax for the repairs). The people making money are those that align wheels and repair windshields; it is like driving in Mogadishu...

BUMP! :)
eventually, there will be no sidewalks, no parks, no zoos, no decent roads, no trails, no libraries, no nothing....
when all the money you collect goes exclusively to the govt workers and their retires, there is nothing left for anything else...
The worst part of it is that while teachers get higher and higher current salaries, the costs of their retirement benefits are hanging over the heads of taxpayers. Like California, anyone coming to NJ would just be buying a share of a massive IOU - so taxpayers and businesses are fleeing/avoiding it altogether.
Everything you say is correct.
But at least Lois Lerner got a huge bonus for her hard work.
They are already well on the way to eliminating libraries.
Oh crud. More corruption.
There are 40 employees involved in the corruption at Census and the IG recommended only 9 be fired?
Man, things have changed for the worse since I worked for the government. Sounds like a “don’t snitch” neighborhood.
