Im tired of telling people things they want to hear that I know we cant do. [President Barack Obama] is not going to sign a bill that will defund Obamacare. If Im president I wouldnt put one penny in my budget for Planned Parenthood not one penny Im as offended by these videos as you are. But the one thing I am not going to do going into 2016 is shut the government down and tank our ability to win. What you are saying and what Sen. [Ted] Cruz is saying, Im really sick of hearing.
The evidence supports Grahams assertions.
Since 2010, House Republicans have voted more than 50 times to repeal Obamacare, knowing that such legislation would never pass the Senate and certainly would never be signed into law by President Barack Obama himself.
They attempted to shut down the government in 2011 over Planned Parenthood funding, knowing the Senate would not accept that outcome and that Obama would not sign such a bill into law. That standoff closed the government for a few hours in the middle of the night at the deadline before House Republicans relented. Conservative Republicans are again threatening a shutdown over defunding Planned Parenthood, and lawmakers have two weeks left to find a way to avoid one. The Senate does not have the votes to pass a spending bill without Planned Parenthood money, and Obama would veto that legislation even if it were to make it to his desk.

“Graham: Im really sick of hearing Republicans lie to their base”...
Then quit doing it... dammit!
Planned Parenthood murder program is funded
Obamacare anti-healthcare is funded
Iran deal is in place... nukes soon to follow
Deficit $18T and climbing
Etc. etc. etc. Lie lie lie!!!
What is the pathogen, poison or disease infecting WashDC that robs Dems of their minds and GOPe of their spines???
Linda can go pound sand in a rathole.
This time, I kinda get Graham’s point as well. However, he lies to the base all the times. We can go through his bad votes if he wants us to.
“If instead of sending one giant spending bill to the president for signature or veto, the GOP can win the budget battle by breaking the budget up into individual spending bills for each agency, or even programs within agencies. While Obama may be willing to have a government shutdown over one big bill, hell lose the political battle if he vetoes 1000 smaller spending bills.
Send him 1000 smaller appropriations to sign or veto. Dont send a bill authorizing funds for Planned Parenthood or Obamacare. He cant veto what isnt in front of him.
The GOP can WIN if they stop playing the hand that consistently loses.”
But then they would not be able to hide their favorite wasted monies in the bill as well.......

I like it!
The so called debates are a reoccurring spectacle that distract citizens from the one single issue that matters most. If anything in Washington is ever going to change for the better, the Washington Cartel has to be destroyed. It is a corrupt criminal enterprise that feeds on taxpayers’ hard earned dollars. Our dollars in the hands of criminals are the grease that keeps corrupt cronyism alive. The dollars are laundered by politicians to Wall Street bankers, unions, crony capitalist, i.e. Chamber of Commerce, and a huge army of lobbyists to court favor with these ‘Big Money’ donors. These entities know a good thing when they have it and push back a huge portion of our money to their favored candidate surrogates who use it to go out, fool Americans into voting for them, and the cycle begins anew. The only candidate in both parties that stands a chance of breaking this loathsome cycle is Donald Trump. The reason why there is not more discussion on this issue is that it is the dirty secret that is hiding under the rug. It is the single most important reason why the country is in the horrible state it finds itself. In the long run, term limits and a ban on holding future office must be instituted. Long public office holders (professional politicians) naturally produce corruption.
Wouldn't that be better?
Why do I always hear a women’s voice whenever I read a Graham quote? It happens even before I know it is Graham.
With similar numbers, the Democrats always seem to advance their agenda. We keep hearing and seeing the “If only we had a majority in the House”, and then “If only we had the majority in the Senate”. I remember Boehner’s campaign to build a GOP majority in the House, with the bumper stickers reading; “Boehner for Speaker of the House”. Made my stomach flip!
With majorities in both the Senate and House and a Republican POTUS the Grand Old Party will continue to capitulate.
The GOP needs to become super aggressive akin to the progressives and turn back the tide, otherwise poor Lindsay is going to stay sick.
I agree completely. That is called a budget and while the republicans have had control of the House for over four years and the Senate for two years, they have not followed regular order and presented budgets for each department as required by existing law. There is a simple reason they wait to the last minute and fold everything into a giant bill and that reason is not fear of a veto. The people funding them want the spending to continue and the leaders want to hide their special spending priorities from the voters. As to the threat of a presidential veto, there is nothing preventing Congress from re-voting and sending the exact same bill back to the president as soon as the veto message is received. If vetoed again, re-vote and return. Repeat as required. It may take a while, but at some point even a spoiled child will realize no means no.
Again, it is not fear that prevents Congress from taking a stand. They don't take a stand because it is not in their interest to do so. The people they really serve have understood the game all along, but unfortunately for them, voters are now beginning to catch on.
“We can’t win, we can’t win, don’t ask us to try and pay no attention to that guy who is willing to try.”
Go back to D.C. and your lobbyist buddies, Grahamnesty.
Another Gov’t shutdown would make these people look spoiled and foolish.
***
Only because the media paint them that way. If the GOP was sincere, they would find a way to get ahead of the narrative and explain it to the people.
Cruz is the guy in this bunch that we need. Perhaps, Trump, for VP, if his ego allows him to take a subordinate position.
Then shut your mouth, Graham.
Exactly why does it shut the government down?
Why don’t they send a budget without planned parenthood in it, pass it through the House and Senate, and let him veto it?
Why would that shut the government down? Presidential vetoes don’t shut down the government.
I too would prefer Trump in a position like that. But if he’s one of the few nowadays who can bring in the votes to win, if on the ticket, then so be it.
We voted to give the GOP the opportunity to make good on repealing DeathCare, to get a fence built and to do their job.
Results? DeathCare still alive and will not be repealed. Fence not built and GOP pushing for more illegals and amnesty. They have done NOTHING to curtail the half breed’s agenda; instead, actively pushing the Democrat’s agenda.
If Trump is elected, expect the Uni-party to join forces and block his efforts. Nothing will change.
Well we won despite the world ending shut down in 2014. I don’t understand where this fear of a shut down comes from. Unless and until the congress of either party shuts the government down to get their rightful power back from the executive branch it’s useless as a screen door on a submarine and the people have no representation in the government-none.
And the other question I have is we won control of Congress in 2014 and what have we done with it? NOTHING. We haven’t even tried, we haven’t even made a pathetic attempt to try and do anything so Lindsey I don’t have any incentive to vote for any Republican congress piss ants at this point.
personal power and self aggrandisement
