Hugh Hewitt drew Trumps ire with a smart question. On Wednesday night, the conservative talk radio host will be ready for round 2 ...
Hewitt declined for obvious reasons to detail potential debate questions. But he showed off a spreadsheet grid hes made to keep track of each candidates at-bats, in an effort to assure that all are heard from. And his basic philosophy is simple.
Trying to channel the Republican primary voter who is undecidedor, whats the term, loosely attachedand what they would want to know, he explains. And one of those things is whos the best positioned to win. The Buckley Rule: Whos the most conservative up there that can win? And then, on areas where they disagree, what are those disagreements? I dont really have an agenda, though I prefer national security and defense issues to domestic issues.
Finally, he adds, Ive told them Im utterly ego-less here. If they go off on a tangent, my assertionand I think widely sharedis if the candidates are debating among themselves, were doing a good job. And the more were talking, the less were doing a good job. You gotta listen. Ive been doing this for 25 years. If something comes up thats emotionally riveting and satisfactory and revealing, dont step on your story.
What headline would he like to read on Thursday morning about his performance? I dont want to be in a headline, he said. You dont want to remember a debate by the moderator. If you do, youve done something wrong. ...

Hewitt is no different from Megyn Kelly. As far as they are concerned, this debate is about THEM.
I’ve recently heard lil Heewie on his show. He’s all Establishment and wants to take out Trump. We’ll find out tonight if he’s or not a Megyn Kelly in pants.
Last night, Hewitt came up in conversation and I had this to say about Hewitt:

He will spring multiple Candy Crowley ambushes tonight.
For sure.
Let's throw fifteen different Muslim names at a guy BEFORE we ask a pertinent question is hardly legitimate.
I still feel Donald should walk off at the 1st sign of an orchestrated hit job and he is the man to be able to see it and ID it.
I react to this HH photo the same way that all the Steel Magnolias (original version) did toward Ouiser Boudreaux!
(Here! Hit Weezer!!)
If Trump continues his rise, there will be an attempt by the left to assassinate him. Keep a watchful eye.
He’s still pullin for McCain. Or Romney.
Can you imagine? Hewitt and the rest of the media circus have been working feverishly for the past month to come up with the ultimate ‘gotcha’ questions, all the while failing to realize that most of the country has come to despise and distrust them precisely because of their Dan Rather ‘gotcha’ style.
I first learned of F R by listening to him praise the site on his radio show. (Something he as done several times.)
I hope his questions to all candidates are tough and illustrative of the candidates' ability to handle some heat. (Mister Trump has been such a petulant whiner about getting tough qs, btw)
I would ask him what how he would define "presidential", "diplomatic", "dignity" and "character", and whether he thinks any apply to him and if any are important to the job of POTUS.

Watch out. The “Diss Hewitt Caucus” is yuge on FR. You may expect flames.
