A U.S. airman who helped disarm a gunman on a Paris-bound train last month will receive a Purple Heart medal, the U.S. Air Force leader said on Monday, in an unusual award of the honor to a serviceman wounded while not in a combat zone. (snip) In addition to the Purple Heart, Stone will receive the Airmans Medal, the Air Forces highest non-combat award for bravery. The medals will be awarded at a ceremony at the Pentagon this week.

Something’s wrong here. This is acknowledgement that the terrorist is an enemy combatant. Oh, that’s right, this happened in France, not America.
You mean the White Hut didn’t claim it was vacation-place violence?
Skarlatos will receive the Soldiers Medal, the U.S. Armys highest non-combat medal, while Sadler will receive the Secretary of Defense Medal for Valor, awarded to civilians, Captain Jeff Davis said on Monday.
I’m still surprised that MOTUS (Mullah of the US) didn’t court martial him for insolence toward a Muslim.
All are well deserved for those three young men.
Hmm ... Wonder if he’ll receive a White House invite, like the Muslim kid got today.
Wow....I thought for sure teamobama would bring charges against them.
And the wounded at Fort Hood?
How about the folks in Fort Hood who got shot up by a member of Obama’s election transition team?
Do they get one too?
(Yep, Hussein was on Obola’s transition team)
There are no combat zones for terrorists. That is the nature of terrorism. Strike wherever they can, whenever they can on the weakest who are least prepared for it.
First thought that went through my head.
After Obama claimed "workplace violence," Congress took action:
Congress inserted language into the National Defense Authorization Act of 2015 expanding the eligibility for the Purple Heart by stating it should cover an attack if the perpetrator was in communication with foreign terrorists or inspired by one.
All the wounded at Fort Hood received Purple Hearts, if I remember correctly.
good
I know. I kill me.
The whole planet is a war zone.
No doubt his handlers told him to just shut up and do it.
Air Force CofS also announced that the airman will be promoted from E-3 (Airman First Class) to Staff Sergeant (E-5). He will spend one day as an E-4 (Senior Airman), then be promoted to SSgt the following day.
Well deserved, but there must be some combat controllers and PJs who have won Silver Stars (and even the Air Force Cross) for valor in combat who are wondering “where’s my promotion?” Heck, even in the glory days of SAC, the legendary Curtis LeMay could only advance personnel one pay grade for exceptional performance (of course, he could demote on-the-spot as well).
