I thought we had an air campaign going on over there. There should not be a SINGLE M1A1 undestroyed.

The crew with the better training. Now, that said, why is a single tank of ANY sort still functional?
For that matter, why is a single Toyota pickup still functional?

An A1 tank going through a berm in the start of Desert storm was hit broadside by a Russian tank. The A1 returned fire and destroyed the Russian. The crew was replaced an the tank continued on.

Russia wins, tanks don’t operate themselves.

I'm rooting for everything Russia does until 0dunga leaves office. I need a hero who is courageous and fights evil, including protecting Christians (usually). Russia isn't taking any Muzzie 'refugees' which is BRILLIANT!!! F*** 0bamadullah and his faux, pretend-American president bullsh*t. He is an outright traitor to America who should be in prison for allowing ISIS convoys to even exist. WHY DOES HE ALLOW THEM ANY U.S. EQUIPMENT AND NOT DESTROY EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF IT? We know the answer to that; 0dingo IS ISIS, CAIR, the Muslim Brotherhood, Al Qaeda, etc..

One suspects that Putin's purpose is not just to prop up President Assad; but to, in fact, get into it with ISIS as a tactic to emerge as the defender of Christendom, as well as moderate Muslims.

Think about the possibilities, for enhancing his influence world-wide: While Obama has left us looking impotent against ISIS; the Russians quickly break the back of their offensive capability. (Remember, a few years back, the difference in how the Russians handled the Somali pirates? Who do you think released the videos, and to what purpose?)

But even then, the Iraqi Army is losing to ISIS not because of its equipment, but because it lacks the discipline, tactics, training and procedures to fight and win.

Right. It doesn't matter what kind of tank you have if you're just going to jump out of it and run away.

Tanks require an extensive supply and maintenance infrastructure in order to be effective. Not to mention training and leadership.

I think much of the success of American Abrams tanks is attributed to their being networked, complete with drone feeds into their intel system, such that everybody can see the battlespace. I doubt ISIS has anything remotely similar. But it would be surprising if the Russians don’t have this technology. It’s been around a long time.

The number of tanks the Russians have in theater so far is just a bare minimum for force protection. They don’t want to be caught in a Blackhawk Down scenario the way Clinton did.

This article says the artillery is self-propelled.

I’d say the Russians look pretty serious.

Very true. But, won't the ISIS crews will abandon their stolen tanks and sell THOSE to the Russians/Syrians/Iranians instead?
