Are we to sacrifice even this messenger, Thomas Sowell, whose conservative credentials are unassailable in the service of Donald Trump?

It would seem that Sowell has sold out to the Establishment.

Dr. Sowell, I suppose, would say, “This is exactly what I mean.”

I don’t support Trump based on emotion. I support Trump based on what he pledges to do. I don’t care how rich he is, I don’t care how many times he has been married, I don’t care what his hair looks like. He comes across as loyal to the country that he grew up in.

It is outrageous to see the “messenger” seek to connect Trump with the repulsive leaders in human history, when the nation’s leaders, prior to this election cycle, were making pilgrimages to his office for his support. You, or he, cannot see the irony in that? The man is sixty-nine years old. Shouldn’t that lurking evil have been apparent long before now?

When you accuse someone of being Hitler, should you not have evidence to show reasons why, other than the fact that he can raise an enthusiastic crowd? There have been plenty of great men, good men, who could raise a crowd and inspire. This article is pathetic. I can say that because I have read much of Sowell and have a basis for comparison.

Mr. Sowell has simply written a ridiculous article and deserves to have it shoved back at him. There is a “large field of candidates, some with outstanding records” he claims in the article, yet only one sees the clear and present danger to our republic that illegal immigration represents.

The rest of them would be content to continue the status quo.

Whatever Mr. Sowell is or isn’t, he doesn’t see that this isn’t about Trump - it’s about illegal immigration, and the sociopathic behavior of the political class, particularly the GOP (we expect it out of democrats).

Let Americans fix the illegal immigration problem through the only candidate who articulates the imperative it should hold in every American - and every politician. They’ll do it through “Trump” because they have no other choice.

Emotion, indeed.

In his article on Trump, Sowell brings out 3 of the most notorious psychopathic leaders of the last 100 years Hitler, Peron, and Obama in which he seeks to compare those who dare oppose illegal immigration by supporting Trump are to be seen as not just wrong - but hated for how wrong they are (perhaps encouraging their punishment?) for merely not supporting the status quo on illegal immigration.

Thomas Sowell probably doesn’t have to feel the consequences of illegal immigration, indeed perhaps he benefits from it. He is wrong.

Sounds to me like he wants to send Trump supporters off to concentration camps for orderly disposal since they inconveniently oppose the destruction of American culture and society.

He places himself on the side of Hitler, Peron, and Obama in opposing Trump - and encourages other conservatives to do the same.

(See how that works....)

I will not be with Sowell/Hitler in destroying America.

I will be with Trump in fixing illegal immigration as a necessary step to saving America.

You aren’t with Hitler, are you?

If Bush drops out I will go back to the "normal" mental gymnastics required back the most benign RINO in a pack of RINOs. I will then eat my milquetoast and shut up, but Bush is to arrogant to drop out so while there is still red meat on the menu it is : Go Trump go!

For many people, anyone who speaks the truth about Trump is the enemy.

Everything - even reason - is sacrificed in a cult of personality. One thing Sowell touches upon is how the media have promoted Trump. In our society, all you need to become the god of the moment is media celebrityhood. It doesn’t really matter what you’re famous for, as long as you’re famous. Obama exploited that very well, and Trump has made a career of it and, in addition, has enough money of his own to keep turning up all over the place and keep his name in the news.

And there’s also the “if it bleeds, it leads” value. I lived in NY when Trump’s name was in lurid tabloid headlines everyday - for one of his messy divorces, for his latest affair with the Slavic model of the moment, for a ruthless property lawsuit, for a casino building scandal etc. He has found that you need neither moral character nor ideas to become a populist hero - simply Kardashian-style celebrityhood. And it is the very MSM that everybody here professes to hate that is orchestrating this.

I will not sacrifice Sowell for Trump.

Sowell’s not wrong about the emotional aspect of Trump’s support.

Trump is fun. He’s bold. He’s brash. He’s a spectacle to behold.

However, anyone who fails to see the similarities between some of Trump’s supporters and the 2008 Obama worshipers is not paying attention. Now, as then, all things are forgiven or dismissed without regard to reason.

This will happen, of course. Anyone who doesn't understand the wonder of Trump is an automatic RINO. The cult of personality is loud and vocal.

I'm vocal, too. Sowell is precisely right.

I read the article and agree with him except for the part about the governors. The only governor running that has done serious reform in their own state is Walker. Jebtho's family set us up for Obama and worse pushed for legislation making Obama's rein of tyranny much easier. Ego and unproven even to the point of being all over the board is why I don't trust Trump. He had an excellent chance to show the nation his abilities to lead in government {not the same as business as they are different concepts and purposes} by running for mayor of NYC.

I would just about bet his administration in that respect would not be much different in outcome than Bloomberg which if you search the only negative Trump mentions about him in a negative manner was Bloombergs media corp underestimating his wealth {seriously Donald?? The man nearly ran a Communist government} Trump has also been quoted as saying DeBlasio will be a good mayor? Where would he be a good mayor? In an authoritarian dictatorship perhaps?

Trump has a lot of baggage people are refusing to even consider. Personally I think he's being backed in a Brer Rabbit type of situation by the Liberal media and perhaps even the DEMs themselves as they can only find an Old Hag and a die hard communist to run on their ticket. Perhaps they know Trump will suit their agenda enough to save their money this time around? That's how Corker ran unopposed by the DEMs for U.S. Senate last time except for a Dem by default who got on the ticket.

People also use the Reagan was a DEM argument. Several points. Reagan was not Mr Ego, Reagan was a GOP governor before running for POTUS. Reagan actually put forth PLANS instead of Nana Nana boo boo your face looks like dodo type of antics in debating others. Has he answered the obvious What, Where, Who, When, and How, questions we need to know or has it been entertaining evasive soundbites that focus the discussion elsewhere?

Last point. The using of Hitler and others names isn't calling Trump Hitler etc. Rather he is historically describing the end horrid results of making an election a popularity contest or a charisma focused race in which the ones names he mentioned were used to make a good and valid point.

IF the Liberal Media and DEM's fear & hate Trump so much why are they feeding the hype? Four years ago not many outside of business and fiance observers knew much about or even paid attention to Trump. Who made him Rock Star famous all of the sudden meaning the past few years? Does even the GOP-E seriously fear him or are we merely being played by them all to keep us on the establishment Bi-Partisan plantation? We should never forget the fact the DEM's don't mind electing a Republican who will do their dirty work for them.

It's early yet. Fall isn't even here. The election is still over a year away and a lot can happen politically between now and first primaries and especially the major ones. IF the media Busted Trump tomorrow or Trump changes his mind ala Fred Thompson {another everyone was so certain was gonna save us all} where would the GOP especially Conservatives be then?
