Pope Blames Refugee Crisis on 'God of Money,' 'Socio-Economic System That Is Bad, Unjust'

In an interview with Portugal-based Radio Renascença aired yesterday, Pope Francis declared that the current refugee crisis in Europe is being caused by a “bad, unjust” socio-economic system that worships “the god of money.”

In the interview, where questions were posed in Portuguese and the responses were given by Pope Francis in Spanish, the pontiff said coveting money will bring about both human and ecological ruin:

This is the tip of the iceberg. We see these refugees, these poor people who are escaping from war, escaping from hunger, but that’s the tip of the iceberg. But underlying that is the cause, and the cause is a socio-economic system that is bad, unjust, because within an economic system, within everything, within the world, speaking of the ecological problem, within the socio-economic society, in politics, the person always has to be the center. And today’s dominant economic system has removed the person from the center, and at the center is the god of money. It’s the fashionable god today. I mean, there are statistics. I don’t remember very well, but — this is not exact and I could be making a mistake— 17% of the population has 80% of the wealth.”

Pope Francis said that refugees from rural areas are being “deforested” and driven into big cities:

“Why are ‘favelas’ (shantytowns) formed in big cities?” It’s the people who come from the country because they have been deforested. They have made a mono-cultivation. They have no work, and they go to big cities.”

Ultimately, the world “is at war against itself, the Pope declared:

“Today, the world is at war, is at war against itself. That is, the world is at war -- as I say -- a war in parts, piecemeal. But it is also at war against the earth, because it’s destroying the earth, that is, our common home. The environment, the glaciers are melting. In the Arctic, the polar bear goes increasingly northward to survive."

“You do realize that perverts occur in the priesthood at the same rate as the general population and any profession you can name, including yours?”

The big problem was not just the perverts, but the church hierarchy coverups, and moving the perverts from city to city.

“Where is Sinead O’Connor when you need her?”

This question of yours should come up every time the pope cries about polar bears and the rainforest. Funny!

Actually the refugees are a result of ISLAMOFACIST TERRORISTS!!!!

But nobody wants to upset the ISLAMOFACISTs who aren’t TERRORISTS...yet....

and besides, somebody might call you Islamophobic.......

Are we really going to have to put up with another 400 years of this before somebody decides its OK to kick their butts again?

NONE of that money came from the Vatican. It came from the American bishops’ selling off land and buildings—most of which were being used to SERVE THE POOR—i.e., schools, hospitals, churches.

The Catholic Church is not one giant corporation.

You keep repeating that as if it will make it true. When I toured the vatican a few years ago, the tour guide bragged that the vatican posessed over 25% of the worlds priceless art and treasure. Quite a collection! I missed the command from Christ telling the disciples to go forth and collect all the earthly treasure they could.

Yeah, the “reasoning” approaches the level of the stuff Kirk, Harry Mudd, and the Enterprise crew fed to “Norman” in “I, Mudd”.

Wow. How disconnected can you be? Unbelievable.

He should stick to theology.

I don't have much good to say about this pope, so I'm biting my tongue.

Do not be put off too much by Trump’s bravado and flamboyance. In part, it seems to be a calculated act that has become part of their public persona, much like Patton, Churchill, and Teddy Roosevelt. Sean Hannity and others describe Trump when in private and off stage as gracious, soft-spoken, and even passive.

Frances forgets that the $billions that pour into the Catholic collection plates comes because of Capitalism and the love of money.

> [Translation: if everyone ELSE wouldjust give part of what they own we could make the whole planet EQUAL but don’t dare touch any of MY $$$] Spoke to a liberal this year who indicated just that. Big surprise.

Some of the stupidest liberal comments were on a FB page that said something like if you school lunches should be free for everyone click like, I made a comment to the effect that. "those lunches aren't free, tax dollars pay for them". You would think I had just killed a puppy in the middle of an SPCA pet adoption drive. I got attacked for stating the obvious yet here were all these idiots that thought the government gets their money by printing it, not from tax dollars. You just can't reason with idiots. You just can't. Liberalism really is a mental illness among truth and common sensed challenged chideen who just happen to be the age of what should be an adult.

It hasn’t stopped the church from collecting, for nearly two millennia, priceless art, statuary and billions and billions of dollars for its organization, a private army and jet, so the Pope can run around spewing Marxist crap

In two weeks he's visiting The States. Wonder what he'll spew in those speeches.

OK, Mr. Pope, set an example. Maybe the Vatican needs to divest itself of some of its assets and then give the money away to the poor.
