Trump questions Ben Carson’s ‘energy’ to be president

BOONE, Iowa – Donald Trump zeroed in Saturday on Republican rival Ben Carson, questioning whether he has the energy to be president, a line he has frequently used to taunt Jeb Bush.

"I don't think Ben has the energy," said Trump, before calling him a "nice man" and arguing that he is not cut out for negotiating with some foreign officials.

The attack came as Carson, a retired surgeon running an outsider campaign like Trump, has surged into second place in many surveys, behind the brash real estate mogul.

Trump, who campaigned here before heading to a tailgate party where a trio of other GOP hopefuls were also appearing, also criticized Carson for recently questioning his Christian faith.

"You don't hit a person on faith," said Trump. "I don't know him. He knows nothing about me."

Weakling answer. Here’s a good history of Perry’s Democrat days: http://www.texastribune.org/2011/07/14/rick-perry-democrat-years/

You can’t find a history like that for Trump. He’s at best a NY RINO. I don’t support the RINO in the primary. I’m a conservative.

You mean like Scott Walker’s done? Scott Walker to propose abolishing unions for federal workers - ABOLISH NLRB

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3336531/posts

Trump’s pro-union, holds their same positions and all of Trump’s ‘solutions’ involve big government and growing it. Who’s going to build that ‘wall’?

He’s a NY-RINO at best (I believe Trump’s a Democrat, a union Democrat) and I don’t support the RINO during the primaries, but that’s just me. I’m a conservative.

Keep covering for the RINO. I won’t. He loves unions like Jeb loves illegals. No thanks. The real problem is the government money machine that feeds big gov unions who then feed the Dems who then feed on us to feed the unions.

You want to really get back to the Constitution and save our nation? Gut the federal unions, then cut the size and scope of Fedgov. Look to Walker. He’s done it already. He’ll do it again.

Yes, I watched it this AM. He’s holding the position Giuliani is. What about Trump’s position on Same Sex Marriage? “It’s the law of the land”

He’s a real fighter. Roe v. Wade is the ‘law of the land’.

Trump will change nothing. He’s an elite. He’s friends with elites. He takes the elite position on dozens of issues critical to conservatives.

At best he’s a NY-RINO. No thanks.

You're the fraud here, not Trump.

You'll have to demonstrate that, even with a preponderance of evidence since you'll never get me on beyond a reasonable doubt.

I'm not a Trumpette. I think for myself and after careful and exhaustive research I know that Trump, at best, is a NY-RINO (although I believe he's a union Democrat given that he holds the same positions).

As a conservative, I never support the RINO during the primary. Sorry, I support the best conservative candidate I can. That's just me. I know there are a lot of closet RINOs on FR. Are you one?

Yeah, sure, we’re all conservatives - which is a subjective term by the way.

And, your candidate will change nothing either. None of the presidents have and for the record, the states are taking care of the abortion issue -however, many are being sued by the federal government. Roe vs. Wade was in 1973 - we have had how many presidents since then and NONE have tried to do anything about it. If these are your issues - then you will be sadly disappointed in whoever gets elected.

The definition of conservative is subjective only among Trump and his supporters.

Would it include things like abortion, gun rights and small government?

My candidate has already done something big and hard and very conservative. He’s broken the government education union and made his previously socialist state a Right to Work state. He’s proven.

Have you read this?: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3336531/posts

That’s big and it’s from a guy who has done it. Walker doesn’t talk. He acts.

Trump calling everyone out as “low energy” gets old. It works with John Ellis Bush, but an accomplished neuro-surgeon is not going to have infomercial style energy. A salesman, a businessman, a senator or governor can have that. A neuro-surgeon must have FOCUS.

I am not even a Carson supporter. I am not against negative advertising or most types of attacks. But accusing everyone who isn’t ADHD as being “low energy” is a non-starter.

Regarding negotiations with Red China, Mexico and Russia: the negotiator doesn’t have to be a presidential version of Biff Tannen, and it doesn’t have to be the president himself. Heck, Carson could even send a savvy businessman like Trump himself over the People’s Republic to negotiate. Reagan knew how to delegate. I’m sure Trump, Cruz and Walker can as well. Dr. Carson probably doesn’t grab his own scalpels, either.
