Megan Barry has been elected mayor in Nashville’s runoff election.

Barry called the night historic.

“This one is going down in the history books,” she said. “This one is all about the fact that today, you went to the polls and you elected the first woman mayor.”

As Barry’s victory speech went on, the crowd began chanting her name.

“Tomorrow our real work begins,” she said.

White moonbat hipsters and Blacks put her in (ironically, 8 years ago, Blacks voted for the more Conservative candidate over our outgoing moonbat Mayor).

As I said, no Republican Mayor since President Grover Cleveland’s 1st term in 1887.

Fox, believe it or not, is a Republican, but as you said, a social leftist (which was repugnant to me, but as he wished to avoid social issues (which you really can’t), he wanted to do something about out-of-control spending and resolving the $2 billion debt we’re in, which Barry will exacerbate). I voted for him solely on the fiscal issue.

Fortunately, at the legislative level, we have Conservative majorities, and they well outnumber moonbats like Hillary Clinton Barry. Only a handful of counties in TN remain Democrat, and Davidson/Nashville is well out of step with the rest of the state in its leftism.

East Nashville has been gentrified and hipsterfied. Ludicrously expensive housing, overwhelmingly White and rich moonbat.

Even if Jenkins won in 1971, he would’ve been the last-gasp backlash to the social leftist issues of the day before the inevitable fall. He would’ve lost to Fulton in 1975 most likely.

Remember that even in Detroit, they elected a Conservative Democrat in 1970 as Mayor in backlash to the execrable left-wing White incumbent who contributed to the mass exodus of the productive class of citizens and presided over the riots. It wasn’t enough to stop the horrific Coleman Young from defeating him 4 years later, and the remaining White citizens (numbering nearly a million) left the city.

Marion Barry is no longer available so they had to settle for Meghan Barry.

Wow! I would have never thought that would happen. The Hillsboro Village and many of the Green Hills esidents used to hold we who lived there in utter contempt. We were deemed unfit to hold the banner for "The Athens of the South".

Is there any part of Davidson county (not the outlying counties) that's still Conservative and Christian? Or have all the good people moved out to Williamson and other surrounding counties?

If you think of the county as a circle, I would say the outermost third is Conservative or Republican. The wealthiest areas (Forest Hill, Green Hills, Belle Meade) are Republican, but differ a bit from the suburban or working class Republican areas.

Until this election, for about 12 years, I had Conservative Republican Councilmembers (but not legislators !), but a corrupt, racist/race-baiting Black leftist woman took the open Council seat in my section of Antioch. Partly due to the fact that this was a bit of a rotten borough area (Hispanic illegals who can’t vote, low turnout amongst Blacks and the remaining White working class could elect a member).

Unfortunately, this is also a high-crime area and very transient (my parents & I being the very few people who’ve been here for over 41 years). Most folks that come here stay for only a few years at best before moving to a safer or more established area (either to a more upscale neighborhood near downtown or out of county).

Overall, what are the big issues for our side (illegals, social decline, gov’t spending) are complete non-issues for the left in Nashville. Their overriding issue is mass transit, gov’t health care, mass transit, bike paths, mass transit, affordable housing and mass transit (did I mention mass transit ?). They despise that the rest of the state doesn’t want to pony up for expensive urban mass transit projects, which are usually black holes for funding.

Of course, the issue isn’t without merit or substance. Traffic is terrible and more and more urban hipsters want to live downtown (or adjacent) and be able to get around without cars, but their solutions are punitive and wanting to FORCE people to change their car-driving habits (as in by not driving), which I remind them won’t work. Most middle or upper class people, despite the claims of the outgoing Mayor, do not want to ride the bus with angry, violent and racist yoots who might go off at a moment’s notice.

It’s the fourth yankee transplant mayor nashville has elected in a row

All two termers

All progressively more leftist

She will be worse no question

Nashville has gone from 80% non Hispanic white in 1970 to around 52% now

Romney got around 60-65% of that 52% of whites which is obviously not enough when the rest of the electorate votes 90-95% dem

Even if whites in Nashville voted like Mississippi or Alabama....90% for GOP

It would not be enough

Sure music city is eat up with white libs and hipster progressives but that’s not the real issue

It’s almost a minority majority city proper now....and demographics is destiny

Nashville will soon join the ranks of nearly all southern cities which are majority non white

The fact Nashville was less minority than any other always made it safer and more livable

Now we just flee to the suburbs to raise families and hipster dinks spend big bucks to live urban near the crime to be cool and sneer at us as the problem and representative of what’s wrong with traditional America till they have to deal with majority black public schools

Folks in Belle Meade and Green Hills where i confess I used to live cam insulate from most of it even public school till middle school

And so it goes ....

This woman is a curse

The emancipation of the female electorate killed America more than any other so called progress

Nashville is Austin almost precisely in nearly every way

Around 2 million metro

A blue turd in a red punch bowl

Hills

Capital

Music biz

River

Universities

Hipsters galore

Very. Liberal

My property taxes at one business I own went from 15,500 in 1997 to 45,000 in 2014

I sold it.

Only one left in davidson county now...I won’t build there again

That is really an astute analysis and all of the detailed points in your post comparing Austin and Nashville are spot on. I'll add one more -- and this ought to hit home for you -- both have adjacent counties named Williamson. And if you're a Christian Conservative living in the vicinity of either city, Williamson County is the place to be.

I have not done much in Austin since Dripping Springs was country and Mt Bonnell was undeveloped and hippie hollow still had a few hippie stragglers

Early 80s

I guess metro population has nearly quadrupled since 1980 which is astounding

Quite a few of my Mississippi friends moved there around 1980 to be in a cool area to kids anyhow

We had a family deer lease near Burnet quite a while on the 130,000acre BF Goodrich ranch along Lake Buchanon early to late 70s

I bet it’s now grown out past Lakeway to there too

Austin was fun late 70s..... I liked it

Nashville metro population has increased about 2.4 fold

And continues at a good 2-3% annual clip

Austin’s growth rate leads the nation I think

Nashville is around 12th

Nashville has more what we euphemistically refer to as urban flavor and the accompanying crime and self induced unemployment than does Austin

Austin proper in 8%

Nashville is 29%

in Austin white liberals are self flagellating to bring more blacks in and self loathing over how hipsters have cut Austin’s black population in half

Are we in the midst of a western civilization insanity or not
