So you think Donald Trump’s demagoguery on immigration has created problems for the other GOP candidates? Well, another very ripe opportunity for Trump to make his GOP rivals even more miserable may be lurking right around the corner, and it could expose the same sort of schism between GOP elites and GOP voters that Trump’s forays into immigration policy have. I’m talking about the massive global trade deal called the Trans-Pacific Partnership. Some time in the next six months — in late 2015 or in early 2016 — the participating nations may finally reach a deal on the TPP. That may well come just when the GOP primaries are heating up. Virtually all of the major GOP presidential candidates, including Jeb Bush, Scott Walker, and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), all support the TPP, as do Republican Congressional leaders. But, in a little noticed move a few days ago, Trump signaled that he might be headed in a very different direction on the TPP soon enough. After his terrific and wonderful rally outside the Capitol the other day, Trump met with Senator Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL), and both men enthusiastically recounted that they had had a good conversation about immigration and …. trade. Said Trump: “The meeting was great!” Sessions is a leading opponent of the TPP. He has warned that the TPP could harm American workers and allow China to join the deal later without the approval of the U.S. Congress; he has also said that it won’t do anything to counter Chinese currency manipulation and could facilitate the flow of “foreign workers” into the United States.

If so it really does not matter because investors don’t care what party you come from, they want a something for their something.

In texas it’s (as I said) agriculture and oil interests.

In Arkansas it’s poultry, and packaging, paper, hardwood flooring..

In the US, you have dozens of multinationals, even some foreign ones with interests in a trade deal. Why would you be surprised about that. They are stepping over each other trying to get into Iran for cripes sake..

Since we are a capitalist country...at least for the time being, albeit crony capitalist, they all have interests in trade except for the local service industries and small specialty product makers.

Based on your answers they seem to support big league conflicts involving special interests which favor really big companies who have zero zip allegiance to what's in Americas best interest. The same special interests who are buying your leaders/politicians who push these corrupt trade deals. Based on this, policies will hopefully be changing resulting much more equitable trade policies for the U.S.

Flooding America with hundreds of millions of foreign made cars and other products has not benefited the American middle class over the past 20 years. It's dying. And free trade is but one of the direct causes. This is not a secret.

You're also supporting flooding America with even more foreigners all so big corp can maintains their profits. That's no bueno. I don't care about their corporate bottom lines.

Your "Keep it business as usual" position is absurd and certainly not a benefit the American middle class. Don't push your "global free trade agreements" with me. I can assure you, it's no sale. ☺

Easy question. I listen and like Trumps speeches, news conferences, his no PC attitude, his confidence, energy, straightforwardness, he's decisive, I like his plans and positions on the issues. And he don't fear defending himself.

I don't dislike him. If I was as you said, a supporter of corporatism...(wordy again) I would love trump! As it is, I think he's a successful businessman with no business in the White House via a vote from me. I suppose if I had to and someone forced me...to pick the best RINO for the next president, I would have to choose trump for a variety of reasons. But I want a Conservative in that position. So you see, your read of me based on my arguments against trump are just hyperbole and guilt by association.

It’s not so much the businesses, dragnet..

It’s what the leaders of these businesses have done in terms of accepting crony capitalism as a reality and not rejecting it.

Now their answer to that accusation would be that they have shareholders to keep happy and are going with the flow as the result of government threatening their financial stability through regulatory actions.

It’s actually a fact, but I admire and respect any CEO that goes down on principle against a out of control government.

The problem is that very few do this..or are willing to stick their necks out.

A Conservative president would deal with this through regulatory easing, and corporate tax reductions. This would attract new business and get the old ones out of the White House.

But the way it is now....they either fall in line, or get smoked...

Didn’t Cruz vote for Obama's TPP?

Yes, he did. The crucial vote gave Boobamba fast-track authority on TPP w/ a text which was so classified, not even members of Congress were allowed to read it.

Republican votes for this were even more horrendous since Obama calls the TPP deal "central" to his second-term legacy, as well as to his "foreign policy" and "economic" agendas.

A Republican voting to insure Obama's legacy should be relegated to the trash heap of history---not be running for president.

Looks like the Clintons and Obama divvied up the globe so that each have their own countries in order to collect big buck get-rich-quick foundation donations, honorarium, cosultancies, and int'l insider business deals.

THE FACTS ARE THESE Obama's trade deal giveaway is a huge scam...best examined against the backdrop of Obama's two tax-exempt foundations (two-that we know of). Obama's priming the pump for donations to his two Foundations.

All of Obama's thinly-veiled actions....

(1) promoting TPA and TPP,

(2) his immigration suck-ups

(3) his non-action WRT ISIS, IRAN....

.....are best understood against the backdrop of Obama's future get-rich-quick plans as an ex-president----more specifically, his two get-rich-quick Foundations (two foundations that we know of).

All these entities control billions of dollars---and Obama is lying-in-wait for his share.
