Top radio host vows to quit job if Trump wins Iowa’s evangelicals

Influential radio show host Steve Deace says he will quit his job if Donald Trump carries the evangelical vote in the Iowa Caucus.

"If Donald Trump gets 32% of the evangelical vote in Iowa on Feb. 1 I will quit my job," Deace tweeted on Thursday, responding to someone who referenced a poll. "Not happening."

Deace, a prominent Iowan conservative, has previously endorsed Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) in the GOP primary.

“In my view, he’s what we’ve been waiting for,” Deace said. “He’s an end to the false choice between principles and electability.”

A Monmouth University poll released Aug. 31 found that retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson holds the edge in the Hawkeye State among evangelicals with 29 percent support, compared to Trump’s 23 percent support.

The same survey has Carson and Trump tied for the overall lead in the state at 23 percent support each, followed by former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina in third with 10 percent support, Cruz with 9 percent support and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker with 7 percent support.

Cruzs’ stated position is build the wall and then we can have a conversation about what to do with the tens of millions already here. Trumps position is enforce existing law. Had the gang of 8 accepted Cruzs’ amendment Cruz would have voted for the gang of 8 comprehensive immigration reform. Cruz never says what he would do about illegals already here. One can logically conclude based on statement Cruz has made and positions Cruz has taken that Cruz is for legalizing illegals, amnesty.

beware the trolls.

since Tuesday there is a big social media and news media push to attack trump for disrupting the business as usual.

REMEMBER:

reporters depend on old media politicians.

party fundraisers depend on raising money because they literally receive a percentage of the money.

Political consultants depend on expensive surveys and focus groups.

(also ask, why the attacks now? the first primary is not until February and the establishment is panicking 5 MONTHS ahead?!!?)

Endorsing Cruz.....you are a million percent correct.....you couldn’t have said it better. Glad you feel the same.

If you don’t lockstep on everything especially during the latest politician of the week then you get bashed. It’s always that way. A few years a go if you criticized Beck you’d be crucified. Now he is on the bad side. Doesn’t take much to go on the naughty list around here.

Trump will trample the Constitution when it suits Trump to do so.

The reality is it will require a tyrant to undo what the current tyrant has done so get over it or get on your knees.

>> I am frankly stunned by the ignorance of so many FReepers here <<

I think it’s not really ignorance. IMHO, it’s better analyzed as a form of cultism that blinds its adherents to evidence and disables their ability to think rationally.

I think it is more a naïve mindset on how politics really works. Especially when it comes to elections.

vote splitting is an old tactic.

in and age where Rove perfects microtargeting voters by street, picking the right vote splitters to divide the angry voters/conservatives is now an artform. Judging from the commentary here on FR. Vote splitting works VERY well.

BS. As for your “get on your knees” comment, I don’t know what you mean. If you mean submit to tyranny, not on my watch. The only one I bow to is God. Picking the lesser of two tyrants is a choice no free, God-fearing man or woman should tolerate. Wrong is wrong. The fact that so many folks here on FR have come to this place of despair is heart-wrenching for me. Choose your own way then. But I do not trust or support any tyrant. No king but Christ.

Peace,

SR

You are right....the conservative expat movement is just about people quietly going about their business - and deciding that the American dream is now perhaps in South or Central America.

I heard some went to Belize. I remember not long ago there was some article that it all ain’t nirvana there with these people.

I don’t know. Anymore you can run, but it sure is hard to hide.

Belize is a big destination, so is Costa Rica and Panama - with Nicaragua and Ecuador coming on strong.

Not for everybody - but right for some. There are plenty of expats living in Central America - a solid upper middle class lifestyle on the beach, or a lake, or a mountain, for 25K a year or less for a couple. For those who’s job and home values were decimated by the 2008 crash, it’s been a Godsend. They may be wiped out, but suddenly their social security is enough. Lot of couples, and divorcees or widows/widowers in that situation.

Nirvana? No. But neither is the USA anymore. And upper middle starts at what, 100, 150K, depending on where you are? More in some places.

Another BLOWHARD seeking some publicity who in the end WON'T QUIT his job or shut his mouth.

I have to give credit to Trump. He seems to affect everyone. He even brings the weirdos out of the woodwork.

Well, perhaps you could tell me what you actually meant. I’d be interested to know. And I wouldn’t be put in the position of having to guess. I have proven my inability to read minds many times. Just ask my wife. :)

Peace,

Prayer works best when we are on our knees at least symbolically. If we as a Nation fail to bring our government to heel then we will either be forced to our knees by that government or we kneel in prayer to bring about the change, but either way we wind up on our knees.
