It was worse seeing the video. Carson actually comes across as smug. I get the feeling the accolades and his position in the polls may be going to his head.

Yeah, I watched it too, and we both saw the same thing.

Wow, I am ahead of the field with Evangelicals (am so proud of this) and virtually every other group, and Ben Carson just took a swipe at me— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 10, 2015

Fodder.

Says he has humility but he doesn’t see that in the other person.

==

It seems to me that the allegation would be counter to his humility.

There is another ‘h’ word for that — hypocrisy.

Two things.

First, I agree with Carson. A man who hasn’t ever asked for forgiveness from God is an odd Christian.

Second, I’m voting for Trump over Carson if it comes to that for myriad reasons.

Carson’s poll numbers are fake . They inflated his poll numbers to try to take Trump out.

They inflated his poll numbers to try to take Trump out.

The well-respected Dr. Carson probably doesn't know that yet but is soon to find out.

First, we are not voting for a pastor or a priest in the WH. We want someone with good moral character and a belief in God - the true God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. We are voting for a leader for this nation. Anyone with half a brain could see that obama was a true fake, but, I don’t see that with Trump. Sure, he brags - and sometimes it gets on my nerves, but I tend to look at his good qualities and still think his ideas are best for this country.

Churchill wasn’t all that religious, and he drank like a fish and insulted people all the time....Would you have had anyone else running Britain during the war?

Agreed. But asking God’s forgiveness every now and then couldn’t hurt :)

Serious question, as I am Catholic and live in NYC/USSR, I honestly dont know alot about other Christians’ beliefs.

Are all expected or encouraged to ask forgiveness (not confession, I know)?

Or just to lead a better life going forward?

DT would be wise to. I don’t think questioning another’s faith sits too well with most Americans anyway.

Having been raised as a Seventh Day Adventist I would never, ever vote for one. Apologies to any on this forum who are Seventh Day Adventists.

“Carson is Seventh Day Adventist. It’s considered a cult by the mainstream Chrisitan organizations because it’s changed the nature of salvation to a salvation by works.”

We had a cultist candidate last time around and that didn’t work out well.

I disagree they are fake. The same people who discounted Trump are discounting Carson. But his numbers do represent something very different than Trump's:

I think Carson is a "parking lot." He is a safe place to put a protest vote when you really don't have to choose yet. I think if pressed to the point that people think Carson really won't win, they will split very evenly between Trump, Cruz, and maybe some to Huck.

I’d be careful trotting that line out.

Remember what ended Cain’s candidacy.

Carson is a very moral individual IMO. There’s no hint of scandal, unless you know of something I haven’t heard of yet.

If you have, I’d be interested to be caught up to speed.

I hadn’t know Carson was a Seventh Day Adventist. I don’t know enough about that denomination to say anything pro or con on it. If Carson is typical of its membership they must be fine people. However it is an even newer denomination than the Mormons, whom in my limited exposure also seem to be fine people. However I was surprised to find how many people were against Romney just on the basis of his being Mormon, independent of their liking or disliking him on secular grounds. As a christian without a church, since the denomination of my youth (Episcopalian) left me and went wholly apostate, I’m little attuned to the squabbles between denominations that are still nominally christian. So I’m asking my better attuned Freepers whether the Seventh Day Adventists are sufficiently mainstream or whether, like Romney, Carson’s faith might cost him significant votes.

how do you know Carson's numbers aren't fake?

Ever heard of fake exit polls to lower Republican voter turnout on election day?

Gullibility. You trust the news too?

That’s a bit of a stretch.

Cult? LOL

These are my thoughts on it, and I firmly believe in the Seventh-Day Adventist faith.

They believe in salvation by faith in the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ.

SDA’s believe that you cannot make it to heaven by your works alone, but they don’t believe you can profess a belief in Christ then go out and do anything you want because you are “Saved”. Bill Clinton lives by that logic. Think he’s a Christian?

They believe you accept Christ and live the best life you can in accordance with their beliefs that God’s plan is for us to live by His example.

They also believe that you live as close to the Heavenly model as you can, so that you are prepared to continue living that way in Heaven.

If living that way here doesn’t fulfill you, then living that way in heaven won’t either.

I’m not going to claim the denomination would back everything I’ve said here, but it’s close enough to suffice.

BTW, September 23 is the DAY OF ATONEMENT.

September 23 is the day the Pope meets with Obama.
