Feb 13, 2014: Scott Walker: Big difference between having a beer and smoking marijuana

CanaBadger: Timeline: Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker on marijuana

......March 31, 2015: In response to a question about marijuana legalization at a luncheon in Phoenix emceed by conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, Walker said he opposed legalizing marijuana, citing a conversation he’d had with Dane County Sheriff Dave Mahoney, a Democrat.

“I mean, it’s left of Pravda,” Walker said of the political views of county residents, which he compared to the Communist Russian newspaper.

“Even there, the Democrat sheriff said to me last year when this issue came up, ‘Whatever you do, please do not sign the legalization of marijuana,'” Walker said. “This was a guy who spent his whole career in law enforcement. He was liberal on a whole lot of other issues. But he said it’s a gateway drug.”

Sept. 9, 2010: The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel posted then-gubernatorial candidates Tom Barrett, Mark Neumann and then-Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker’s positions on legalizing medical cannabis:

Do you support the legalization of medical marijuana?

Scott Walker: No. Federal law still classifies marijuana as a Schedule 1 narcotic and I believe state law should reflect this as well.

Yeah, the "War on Drugs" is one of America's hugely successful programs.

Got anything on him from the 70s. That’s what I can’t wait to see...

This 1990 stuff, it’s just too recent.

Even though it is NOT a narcotic! It is a hallucinogen.

There is a huge difference between cannabis and booze! Cannabis doesn't cause nearly the problems that ethanol does! People don't get murderously violent from cannabis unlike booze. Ask any cop which one they'd rather have to deal with.

Proof Hussein is NOT an American citizen, and not black. Cannabis prohibition was created as a new way to enslave colored people. PERIOD. If Hussein was really a black American, legalization would have been day 1.

You’re doing it again. This is 2015. It’s not 2003 or the 1990s.

personally I’m for legalizing marijuana and other recreation drugs. It’s no difference to alcohol and this war on drugs is a war on personal responsiblity

Let’s have Trump do a hypnotic regression to a past life, so the anti-Trump can really find some relevant dirt. Which senior military officer from the Confederacy will they find that he was. Maybe go further back and find he was a part of the conspiracy to assassinate Julius Caeser in 44BC? That’s a good one!

Nothing is going to resurrect Walker.

He is a good governor, that is what he will remain.

Trump NEEDS to correct his outrageous statement that the USSC makes laws. I.e., that “gay marriage” is “the law of the land.”

Suppose pot became legal in Wisconsin. Which would Walker side with, Wisconsin or fedgov?

Boaz also pointed out that Trump recently voiced his support for medical marijuana, and that when asked about Colorado, the 2016 GOP contender essentially said that states should be able to decide on legalizing recreational weed.

AWESOME. Thanks for posting the good news, I didn't know you come over to Trump's side.

Shocking. Another negative post about Trump by CW. It’s really a tie between you and Nick Carraway for most annoying anti-Trump Freeper. Although i think you win because Nick just comments, whereas you spend your whole life mining for old stuff that Trump said a quarter of a century ago...who cares?

In 1990 I was pro-choice as a college student. Today as a father of two I couldn’t be more pro-life. 10 years ago I probably would have shrugged my shoulders and said a ‘path to citizenship was ok’. But now I realize what an existential threat to our nation it is and we should deport them all. Maybe Trump changed some positions too. I don’t care. But he is the only one even talking about a solution to our immigration nightmare, talking about a $20T debt, talking about our lousy trade deals and deficits, the VA. Actually, Trump is the only one talking about putting America and Americans first. The rest have talked and done nothing when elected. I’m willing to give Trump the chance because he’s actually produced something tangible with his life and gets things done. If he just solves of our immigration problems, he will have done the greatest service he can for this nation.

I’m all for legalization. The war on drugs has been an endless war on civil liberties. Move the money to treatment and defund the cartels at the same time. Take a look at how Portugal has decreased their previously exploding addict population through legalization.

Move a few $1000 in and out of your bank account several times and then tell me the wonders of the war on drugs.

To some degree, he was right. A terrible hell has been released around the world and on our Rights here in “fighting a losing battle.”

I laughed at the Netherlands and their silly drug policies in the 80s - and now it is mostly foreigners that travel there to use drugs.

Thanks for posting Trumps insights.

I agree that we should decriminalize all the drugs. Maybe that's just the libertarian inside of me. I have never taken drugs (outside of alcohol and caffeine) and have no desire whatsoever to "get high" on marijuana or cocaine, or whatnot. However, making those substances illegal actually encourage their use (the "outlaw" factor), transfer billions of dollars out of our economy to an underground economy (benefiting foreign drug lords), and make criminals out of otherwise law-abiding citizens.

Now, when crimes are committed as a result of drug use, by all means, throw the book at them.

Yes, drug use can lead to crime, but prosecute and punish the crime, not the drug.

Same thing with guns. Prosecute and punish the crime, not the gun.

Donald Trump, as I understand it, is a lifetime teetotaler, never takes drugs, not even a cup of weak tea. I haven't studied his position on drugs but I'm glad he's not talking about bringing back Prohibition or anything like that - despite not imbibing himself.

Last June, he said that he opposes pot legalization. “I feel strongly about that,” he told Sean Hannity.

Today’s Donald Trump sounds like your average drug warrior. But it wasn’t too long ago that the real-estate mogul/reality-TV star publicly supported the legalization of drugs in the United States

Does all this remind anyone else of how Mittens reinvented himself as a conservative once he decided to run for the nomination?
