Back in my younger days camping consisted of a beat up Boy Scout backpack, sleeping bag, and a tent. Food was as much pork and beans as I could carry.
Nowadays it’s renting a Class A and making sure I have the makings for a proper Manhattan.

Got to have the bitters.
Years ago I preferred “backpacking” to camping as well; find a remote spot and enjoy it. It has been a few years; I still have my gear (which was a comfort during the power outage brought on by Hurricane Sandy), and hope to go again.
I guess I never grew up.
To me camping is looking around, seeing that there are no other people within 150 miles, throwing the bedroll on the ground, building a fire ring or pit, grabbing the shotgun and going out to kill something to eat.
Most folks don’t know it, but you can catch fish with a 12 gauge to.
Water, salt, pepper, OK got it all, lets go.
And satellite t.v., which I’ve never understood.
Room service. Camping means Room Service!
