Years ago I preferred “backpacking” to camping as well; find a remote spot and enjoy it. It has been a few years; I still have my gear (which was a comfort during the power outage brought on by Hurricane Sandy), and hope to go again.
If you’re ever coming over to the left (West) Coast (late Spring through early Fall), ring me up...I can take you into some beautiful areas of the Sierra Nevadas...bring light tackle for some trout fishing as well.
