As it stands right now there is no LAW that authorizes Kim Davis to issue a marriage license to a same sex couple. If there is such a LAW please give me the statutory cite.
A county clerk is an administrative position and she is only authorized to follow the law as written. She is in jail because she will not violate the law.
In this case the judge has no authority to send her to jail. She has committed no crime.
Then Marlowe certainly knows it is not necessary to enact a new law every single time a state or federal court strikes down a law, in whole or part.
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. SCOTUS' wrong-headed decision in Obergefell did not invalidate the entirety of Kentucky's, or any other state's, marriage laws. Only as they apply to prohibitions against gay marriages.
No, this is the issue! We followers of Jesus Christ have read our history. We have read Bonhoeffer and how he had to give his life for his Christian principles. We’ve read Fox’s Book of Martyrs and know what is coming. This Davis lady is just the first of many that will be imprisoned in America for their Christian faith. Trump has said this about his faith “Donald Trump talked about his Christian faith Saturday, but said he’s never sought forgiveness for his sins.” My feeble human trust lies with candidates such as Cruz, Walker, Huckabee, and Carson.

Did the security guard have the right to take the sign? My understanding is that this was on the street outside Trump Tower, the street is public.
Trump is running for president. When a person runs for president there are going to be people protesting them, that's just the way it is and Trump needs to realize this.

Or, perhaps, Davis is authorized to approve all marriages that meet a general criteria. And now, like it or not, gay marriages are included.
Honorably resign because her own sense of morality and honor prevents her from doing the duties of her job.
I said earlier and above that if this was a private person, I would support them. I would go to battle for the right of a church to refuse to perform gay marriages. I support bakers or photographers who don’t want to participate.
I don’t buy the argument that a gov’t official who registers people pairing up is somehow deeply involved with the marriage. That God requires her to vouch and approve of everything that goes through her licensing office.
I’m just not that impressed with the idea that she is giving her “blessing” to everyone and that it is a sin if she gives out pieces of paper that the state requires.
I’m all for her having her belief, I don’t share it.
And she can’t stay in her position if her religious scruples prevent her from doing it.
I think it is a good thing that the state and religion are two different things. I don’t applaud people who let their personal beliefs interfere with the performance of their duties. If a Baptist state treasurer decided no more liquor licenses, I would say “good for him that he doesn’t want to be personally involved.” But get him out of the way for the rest of us who want to live differently.
So foreign invaders that can reshape the electorate towards leftist Marxism, and ability to take away American jobs, and ultimately end up you paying for them via taxes, let alone even MORE Constitutional rights violated, means nothing to you, but people in essance do between themselves gets your knickers in a twist??

Bobby and Lucy, two deeply in love Kentuckians 13 and 14 years old, always dreamt of making it on Broadway. Unfortunately their child is condemned to illegitimacy by the State of New York.
Bobby and Lucy ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law, they ask for respect. Why hasn’t the Supreme Court granted them this?
Why haven’t the Philosopher Kings in their wise beneficence put an end to Bobby & Lucy’s exclusion from one of civilization’s oldest institutions? Why is the Supreme Court denying them the respect of marriage? Why are they condemning Bobby and Lucy’s child to illegitimacy? All they have to do is say the word.

The Kentucky constitution says that marriage is only between one man and one woman. Gender is mentioned but not race. Thank You for equating discrimination against blacks with being against an unnatural marriage. That was a very liberal use of a straw man.

A fifty year old immigrant who has lived here for thirty years. That means he is very likely a citizen, is almost certainly here legally (Reagan's amnesty was in 1986) and regardless there's no actual indication that he is or ever was here illegally.

I can't really tell from the pictures or video, but it looks to me that he was on the sidewalk which IS NOT private property.
Trump is running for president, there will be protesters, he no longer has the protection from defamation that he would as a private citizen. Trump needs to realize all of this.

It looked to me that he was just trying to get his sign back. However, right around the 3 second mark (and about a second before he was hit), someone walks in front of the camera, so I can't be certain.
Trump is used to getting his own way and being in very controlled situations. All of that is changing and he either needs to learn how to deal with it or get out.
I mention race because, as you know, many states had laws prohibiting marriage based on race. That is, until SCOTUS invalidated all such prohibitions across the country in 1967.
However, some states failed to repeal or rewrite their statutory prohibitions in a timely manner after that 1967 decision.
Alabama did not repeal their law until 2000. Is it your position that every single marriage performed in Alabama between 1968 and 2000 is null & void/illegally done because SCOTUS voided marriage laws as they relate to prohibitions against interracial marriage?
