Donald Trump found himself briefly cornered during a call-in radio interview on Thursday. The presidential candidate was a guest on the The Hugh Hewitt Show when conservative host Hugh Hewitt began examining the real estate magnates foreign policy chops. Trump seemed to know something was coming, as Hewitt has a nose for generating news (most recently by asking Republican candidates if they would attend a gay wedding), but it was not a flattering exchange for Trump, who confessed to gaping holes in his foreign policy understanding.
Trump managed to emerge only slightly bloodied from the interview and the damage was contained largely thanks to Hewitts willingness to move on as Trump grasped for answers or provided patently absurd ones. At one point, Trump assured Hewitt: I will be so good at the military, your head will spin.
The back-and-forth began with Hewitt, who will co-moderate the upcoming GOP debate on CNN, asking not just about the Iran dealbut specifically the response of Qassim Suleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards. Hewitt asked if Trump knew who Suleimani was. Trump obviously didnt, so Hewitt described him as running the Quds forces. Trump responded with an unfortunate assessment of the treatment of the Kurds.

Because everybody knows that the President’s job is to sit at his desk answering trivia questions all day.
I don’t like Forina at all, but she was able to answer all Hewitt’s questions
Candidate Obama didn’t even grasp how many states there are in the US.
Interestingly, Carson made similar mistakes, but is in second place, while Z-Taxman’s guy Rand Paul— the guy who wants more immigration and legal status for illegals— has no chance of being the nominee.
Yeah he thought there was 60 U.S. states.
why start a thread on the exact subject matter you we already commenting on in another thread?
Isn’t this just spam? And who do you think this is helping and do you think, as another spammer was asked last night, that your spamming has changed anyone’s minds about Trump?
Has Rand Paul taken an oath not to run Third Party? His daddy wouldn’t.
Wow, Someone had better let Jim Robertson know about this as soon as possible so that Jim can be sure and rethink his position on Donald. This is hugh stuff man!
I think what most people missed is that when Donald made the statement - I pledge allegiance to the Republican Party -that he was making a mockery of the entire thing. He was playing on the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. At least that’s what I got from it. Most missed the humor in it.
“That’s old news...”
“Move on...”
Isn’t that what Bill and Hill say?
Obama thought there were at least 57 states and Slow-Joe Biden thinks that Europe is a country. I’d rather have a person in office that has good principles than a communist who’s got the who’s who of the middle east memorized.
All Trump has to do is say the word “illegal” and all his past digressions are forgiven. This is how it works in the Church of Trump.
Fiorina took the Nazi position on Kim Davis.
Could you imagine if Bush or Palin claimed to have visited 57 states? The way the media is, they might as well have said it.
Yes, she did. She ought not to be allowed anywhere near the presidency.
Trump has been importuned repeatedly to “pledge allegiance” to the Republican Party. So, naturally, he used that phrase. It was entirely natural for him to add “and to the principles for which it stands.” I think it’s preposterous to imagine that he was “mocking” the actual Pledge.
BTW: No American should recite the Pledge. It denies the natural right of secession, which is upheld in the Declaration of Independence.
I know, let’s embrace another Republican career-politician that says all the right things during an election-year, makes zero attempt to do any of it in practice, and who’s biggest accomplishment is making it through law school.
I’ll be a little more charitable.
They are rightly very angry about illegal immigration and the GOP’s hand in it.
But that anger has blinded them to some hard truths about Trump.
