For those who have missed it, we are hosting another round of Pick’em Fantasy Football for FRee Republic brethren.
No money changes hands, just many bad puns and bragging rights to knowing more than the best ESPN “analysts”.
FReepmail me for the password to join team 167.
But we got a big win today and Goodell
can kiss your shiny @ss
OH Bender you miss her LOL!
The hero Goodell is skipping the NEW-PIT kickoff game next Thursday.
What a capon.
EXCELLENT!!!
LOL
The Bears third stringers kicked some a$$ last night, I’d pick them to win a third stingers SB.
A pity the starters will face Green Bay next Sunday.
The judge deflated Goodell’s balls.
May there be a NEW-CHI SB this year. Those are the only NFL teams I care about anymore.
As some of you know, I downgraded my cable TV. I purposely got rid of the “Sports Package” which included the ESPN channels and the NFL Network. The Curt Schilling thing (and he is 100% right) was the last straw for me and I let the nice man I spoke with know that I was getting rid of the sports channels because I refuse to give money to corrupt organizations such as the NFL and their puppet network, ESPN.
My part of $tarving the bea$t.
” I let the nice man I spoke with know that I was getting rid of the sports channels because I refuse to give money to corrupt organizations such as the NFL and their puppet network, ESPN.

I did exactly what you did around 2 weeks ago.
Great minds, buddy!
Like I’ve discussed with the other FRiends I’m pinging to this post, I’m pretty much done with the NFL. And I’m certainly not $ub$idizing them anymore.
They can FOAD as far as I’m concerned, especially their Commissar and “his” toadies.
I’d love to see Brady sue for defamation of character. Let the NO Saints and MIA sue him/NFL too. I believe a former MIA coach is actually doing just that. DAL & WAS should sue for the BS penalties they received for spending during the salary uncapped season as well.
Goodell deserves to have complete unholy Hell raining down on “him” at every turn.
“Not when the NFL has signed a contract saying it CANNOT do those things. Contracts are a part of the law.”
But a contract can also spell out that between two parties, one party has the authority to render discipline on the members of the other party. This Judge has held that, in effect, forget what your contract says, I am going to tell you what needs to go down in the relationship between the parties. I am going to define it.
So then, why even have a collective bargaining agreement? Why bother if some Judge can simply not like what it says and impose his or her own standards? Its a tax, its not a tax, sound familiar?
I’ll be cheering on my childhood baseball team this postseason, the NY Mets.
To the Chicagoans: Good luck to CHC. But if it’s them vs. NYM, I’m all in on the Mets. :)
The judge didn’t make up anything. Under the CBA, the NFL could fine Brady, but could not suspend him. They decided to suspend him in violation of their contract with the player’s union. The NFL ignored the penalty they could impose and imposed one their contract did not allow. At least, that is how it looked when I skimmed thru the decision.
Looks like Tom Brady is on The Donald Express:

Then, by this Judge’s logic how could the NFL suspend any player for anything if it is not in the CBA? That is why, as of now, you have emery player who has been suspended for anything lining up to sue the NFL.
“Then, by this Judges logic how could the NFL suspend any player for anything if it is not in the CBA?”
Suspensions ARE in the CBA - but it depends on the offense. For a first time offense involving possible tampering with equipment, a player can be fined. Not suspended. Further offenses, or more serious ones (drugs) CAN result in suspension. What punishments are acceptable is spelled out, in detail, in the CBA. And the NFL has to abide by its side of that agreement.
Where in the agreement? I don’t read anyplace where suspensions are allowed? And Brady wasn’t just being suspended for equipment tampering but for hindering the investigation by destroying his phone. Is that in the CBS?
