Donald Trump a Jeb Bush: Habla inglés
Miami Herald ^ | 9/2/15 | PATRICIA MAZZEI

Donald Trump is unimpressed by ¡Jeb! Bush’s command of the Spanish language.

So Trump had a message for Bush Wednesday: Habla inglés.

“I like Jeb,” Trump told conservative Breitbart News website Wednesday. “He’s a nice man. But he should really set the example by speaking English while in the United States.”

Bush, who ripped Trump Tuesday in Miami en español, was on a plane Wednesday night and didn’t respond to Trump — in any language.

In business it is different as I am sure you know. If Trump only did business with American companies based in the United States one would expect them to do business in English. If Trump or anyone else want to do business internationally then they should expect to speak the language of those they are doing business with.

If I were to do business with someone in another country or choose to move to another country I would expect to speak their language or have someone to interpret for me.

The issue is when people are in the United States, and expecting us to speak their language. It might be nice if we do happen to speak their language but it should not be expected. I have actually been yelled at in my own country for not speaking Spanish. That is pure arrogance and should not be tolerated or encouraged. My sister-in-law spoke 5 languages in addition to English but Spanish was not one of them. Living in Southern California she had many encounters with people who berated her for not speaking Spanish. In the past I traveled frequently to Mexico, I was happy if I found someone that spoke English, but I sure did not expect it. I also found the people outside of tourist areas made no attempt to help me, if I couldn’t speak the language that was my problem.

When I was growing up it was considered very bad manners to speak in a language that you knew others around you did not understand.

You obviously can support anyone you like; I’ll be supporting a conservative republican. The clearly precludes Jeb Bush and anyone to the left of Bush such as Trump. One of the few things Bush has done that I find politically admirable is reach out to a natural conservative cohort, LEGAL Hispanic immigrants who vote.

I think its fair for any candidate to seek advantage over others running, even the thoroughly unacceptable Bush. Demonstrating a skill Trump doesn’t have maybe ineffective but I suppose he has to play the cards hes got.

Do legal Hispanics or their descendants have a history of voting conservative?

Cubans do, certainly. I dont think other hispanics do but they are religious and naturally, socially conservative. Reaching out to them, possibly in their own language, might work. I am an optimist by nature but this is an effort worth making. I only wish it were someone other than Bush.

Even younger Cubans are getting away from the Republican party. Hispanics are on the Democratic plantation. And speaking Spanish in a strong American accent (with a little English “blah-blah-blah” lingo thrown in) is not going to convert anyone. He’s a total panderer.
