WASHINGTON (AP) Republican presidential candidate Scott Walker says that building a wall along the country's norther border with Canada is a legitimate issue that merits further review.
Republican candidates have generally taken a get-tough approach on deterring illegal immigration, but they usually focus on the border with Mexico.
The Wisconsin governor was asked whether he wanted to build a wall on the northern border, too, during an interview Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press."
Walker says law enforcement officials in New Hampshire brought up the topic of building a wall along the U.S.-Canadian border during a recent town hall meeting. He says they raised some legitimate concerns, so it's a "legitimate issue for us to look at."

No one wants to see illegal Canadians lined up for day work at the Home Depot in Duluth, MN.
The problem is not just “Canadians” live in Canada anymore.
Steyn can broadcast from Canuckistan.
Mohamed and Achmed.
“Just tryin to be fair....”
The system is so corrupt that most people wouldn’t know what fair looks like.
I consider Minnesota West Wisconsin.
How many? Canada has Mosques that radicalize and 5525 miles of border between the US. The US-Canadian border is more porous if you really want to cross over. All I'm saying is that a wall on the southern border may help to keep illegal immigrants out, but if funded terrorist want to get in they will. I in no way think we could build a wall across the US-Canadian border as it would add Trillions more to our National Debt. I'm not even sure about a southern wall knowing that any government run project is going to have astronomical cost overruns and finally get finished when there are about 10 Mexicans left in Mexico.
Good Lord the man (Walker) is running for POTUS, gets complaints from certain northern border state officials about their border concerns and responds to them. And say’s their concerns may be worth a look.
Without even acknowledging he’s responding to local concerns and who have no idea what they are because it wasn’t explained ,which is probably local smuggling. Responders act like 10 year olds immediately claim Walker wants building a wall along the Canadian border. because they didn’t read the article and respond to the headline .
Walker is a sad guy. I just want to know who talked him and Jeb into running.
I didn’t know that he was insane, until now. Can’t wait for a Trump response to that proposal.
That was a long time ago.
Have you been across a US border from Canada these days. It is like going through East to West Germany.
I go across a bit because of friends/family
There are sensors and cameras everywhere. And have been for a long time. 25 years ago when we were up near the border and decided to spend a couple of days at friends across the border, they let us through with one of our other race children, without id, but when we rode back through, they had a pic of her for comparison.
I look at it as a decent test - kind of outs him as a liberal, doesn't it?
I favor spending the money on drones and fast response teams. When the drones or fast response teams get these people back to their side of the border quickly and without ICE involvement the word will get out. And no I'm not calling for lethal interdiction but tear gas and rubber bullets can sometimes have consequences.
That’s a good idea. As it is, though, there are sensors, cameras and other security all along the northern border. Canada contributes much to that security. Even rural neighbors on both sides of the northern border go through nearby small checkpoints. I would not want to try to cross that one illegally these days. Canadians, on average, are economically well off.
The Mexican border is different in many ways. Mexico is not much help with security. Few people want to work along that border for any great length of time (extreme heat, unappealing landscape, lack of infrastructure, lack of services, etc.). Employer lobbies make the situation even more futile. Employers and managers love the resorts. They get hordes of slaves through one way or another. Extreme poverty in so many countries south of the border is a strong motivation.
Look at Europe. There’s a big rush on from Africa, Syria and other hot places. With word from the Internet and rumors about wealth and women, enormous numbers of southern people are pressing toward northern Europe.
Here’s something that many are not realizing. Wealthy philanthropists/slavers and the Internet are a couple of the main culprits.
Actually the New Hampshire/Canada border is mostly made up of forest. Take a look at the border on Google Earth, except for the cleared border strip and a few farms near Stewartstown there isn't much other than trees and rocks.
It would be very difficult to show up in that area and not have the locals take immediate notice.
I suspect the NH types are just trying to get some federal money to spend. The NH border with Canada is a remote wooded area with limited access. There are many much easier ways for people to enter the US, including in nearby Vermont.
Pierre Elliot Trudeau is long dead. His son Justin is now the “leader” of the federal LIbEral party.
