Russia’s “Secret” Army in Ukraine
The XX Committee ^ | 08/28/2015 | John R. Schindler

Posted on 08/28/2015 9:02:50 PM PDT by Agog

Needless to add, the “DNR” and “LNR” militaries would not last twenty-four hours without constant command and logistical support from Putin’s military. They are an extension of Russian Ground Forces and should be treated as such by the West. It’s time to end, once and for all, any fiction about “rebels” — these are Russian-controlled forces, led by Russian officers, supplied with Russian guns and ammunition, that are waging war inside Ukraine.

It's worth pointing out that they're not doing very well, either despite over 2000 of these Russian having died in Putin's war on a peaceful neighbor.

You can’t stand against Russia—its too big—if they lose 2,000 they will just toss in 4,000. Best to make a deal with Putin-—Give him the land he wants—make it part of Russia to bring Order. Get russia to pay for it with Free Gas and trade. Do a deal—Maybe call in Donald Trump to make a deal and bring piece. Russia needs Ukraine. Trump might win a Noble Peace Prize for the deal.

Why keep it a secret?

Barry won’t do anything (of substance). Short Pants has already disregarded the agreement to back Ukraine if they give/gave up their nukes.

There are protests against the war in Russia too. Russia won’t report casualties any more

Maybe others are not willing to make a deal to give away their freedom. We are not at Yalta.

Where were voices like yours when the USA/EU/NATO cut up Serbia?
Yaltas happen all the time—The majority of people in the Rebellious Eastern Ukraine are Russians—Joining Russia would be seeking Freedom from a hostile Ukrainenan culture.

In your view, when the Slovenians basically beat the imperialist Serbs regular army in a week, packed them up as POWs on busses, and sent them home, they were out of line? When the Croats fought back and regained their country from Serb tyranny and pursued their own national destiny, they were out of line? When the Bosnians fought back against the Serbs led by the interfering Putin-like gangster statesman and, again like Putin a former communist, Milosovic, they were wrong? And when the Kosovars, fed up with Serb crimes against them, fought back, they too were wrong? I guess in your mind only Milosevic is a righteous man. And in Ukraine, for you, only the communist-turned gangster statesman, president-for-life Putin is right. I get it. You favor tyranny as long as tyranny favors recently former communists.

As someone whose parents survived the Holocaust I can’t blame the Serbs for not wanting to be ruled by Croatians, Slovenians or Muslims who were allies of the Nazis and resurrected many of the WW2 govt symbols when they declared their independence from Yugoslavia. Plus of course the Bosnian Muslims were allied with al-Qaeda - I think a couple of the 9/11 hijackers were veterans of those jihadi companies in Bosnia. Just saw it on the BBC documentary a couple of weeks ago when it aired (or was that last month?).

Yes, the Serbs were mistreated, especially by the Croats. That wasn’t the subject though. The Serbs wanted to mistreat the Croats, Slovenians, and the Muslims. And they were mistreating them. I would think that you would understand that since you’re a Holocaust survivor.

I would think that you would understand that since you’re a Holocaust survivor. The Slovenes and Serbs did not fight each other that hard because there were few Serbs in Slovenia and little historical animosity between them.

The Croats carried out some of the most barbaric atrocities against Serbs and Jews ever seen - made even the SS supervisors sick if I can paraphrase history.

If I was a Serb (and I am not a Slav or have any Serbian connection) and I saw Croatians resurrect the same flags and symbols and slogans as their WW2 Nazi puppet state I would fight like the devil to prevent being ruled by such people.

The same with the Muslims - and in fact the Bosnian ruler was an Islamist supremacist and last time Muslims ruled Christians in Bosnia the Christians were sold in slave markets. Same as in Kosovo. Kosovo post Serb control lives up to the hell hole the Serbs said Muslim rule would be.

At best NATO should have stayed neutral and smacked down both sides but in fact they backed the Muslims and the neo-nazi flirting Croatians.

By the way, in addition to former Bosnian jihadis, nationalist Croats carried out terrorist bombings in New York City and killed a few cops in the 70s as part of some anti-Yugoslav campaign. Serbs have done none of that against the USA and we bombed them for months.

Yeah, I was going to ask about that. It was very distracting.

I know about the Ustaše. And there were other Nazi collaborators all over Europe. In France, it was the Milice. In Norway, Vidkun Quisling led the collaborators.

The wrongs of the WWII collaborators cannot be, in my opinion, for tyranny or terrorism by the former victims. I'll give you an example that may help you understand my point.

Israel remains extremely careful about how it fights its enemies. They try to use precision munitions; they try to adhere to the rules of proportionality. They try not to kill non-combatants. Yet, using the logic you site above for the Serbs, Israel would should be unhindered by any considerations. After all, the Arabs have treated the Jews in Israel very badly since even before the Zionists from outside Israel first set foot back in Israel. But the Israelis don't seek to dominate their neighbors. Other countries would never need to fear Israel unless they are supporting war on Israel. Israel doesn't randomly kill civilians. They don't set up concentration camps, like Srebrenica. Why not? Because at the end of the day they must not become like their enemies. Two wrongs do not make a right.

The Serbs probably felt that it was better to fight the Islamo-Nazis than pray they will not act like their grandparents.

The failing of the West was that it did not try and be tough on all sides - I don’t buy the argument the Serbs were more brutal than the Croats (who ethnic cleansed more Serbs than vice verse) or Muslims.

And the Croatian equivalent of Srebrenica was where? And the Croatian wanton shelling, mortaring, and sniping into civil areas over a prolonged periods was where?

You can see the Serbs as committing justifiable homicide. But nearly anyone with a historic grievance rationalizes their actions the same way, the IRA, the PLO, and the NAZIS. Once you step away from moral constraints the way that Milosevic and his followers did, you're likely to become an evil monster.

I don’t consider what happened at Srebrenica a bad thing but I guess Operation Storm is a good one - when Croatia ethnic cleansed like 200,000 people from their lands. But Clinton funded their army so that was all good.
