Or the Amber Room
Having visited Auschwitz recently, what really got me were the piles of artificial limbs.
The irony is probably many of those victims lost those limbs fighting for Germany in WW I.
Terrible but fascinating story.
Yes. The NAZI Gestapo confiscated all their belongs when they captured them and transported them to concentration camps.
Maybe its just me but in such a scenario, looking for nazi gold trains would be pretty far down the bucket list.
TRUE. As a denizen of the frozen north, I can testify that given a blizzard, drinking, and a frisky lady, other pathways (cabin, roaring fire, bearskin, etc) naturally come to mind... Searching for the train would come after the storm and hangover ends... Maybe, if I'm lucky, summertime : )
“If there is Gold, then consider it reparations to Poland for what those Nazi bastards did there.”
Well, I’d buy that, except you can’t pay reparations with stolen goods.
It’s just liberals carrying on Josef’s edict. Tell the big lie. It’s what they do. They learned from the master.
Today the Holocaust never happened. Tomorrow, the eradication of American non liberals will be denied as passionately. As it happens. Because that too is what liberals do.
It sounds like it was found in an uncharted, unfinished tunnel that was part of “Projekt Reise”, an effort using Soviet POW’s and Concentration Camp Jews as slave labor, to build a complex of underground factories.
IMO, that’s why no one ever found it after the war, the workers were all killed by the Nazi’s as the Soviets advanced.
Then the killers themselves, likely the only ones left who knew where the train was, were themselves probably killed by the advancing Soviets.
April 1945 was complete chaos, as the German Army fell apart.
As is true with much of what was seen in Schindler's List the scene which showed eyeglasses...hair...religious symbols...and gold teeth being inventoried it seems highly likely that wedding rings and other types of jewelry were also collected, melted down and the proceeds found their way into Goering's Swiss account.
As a former Adirondacker I verify the truth of your sage words ;)
I think it is very hard hitting too.
When you think of the love behind those rings, what they represent as a commitment of love with another human being, that hits me pretty hard.
There is significance behind the fillings too. I appreciate your comments.
We’ll still be finding Nazi tunnels a hundred years from now, they dug ‘em all over Europe.
Most of them are probably empty, or maybe stocked with old rusted munitions, but I’m sure there are at least a few packed with treasures just waiting to be rediscovered.
Wouldn’t the ‘’frisky lady’’ distract you from finding the loot?
The Amber Room may well be on that train.
They recreated it, but it would be nice to find the original
I agree.
It is always the end result of socialism/communism/marxism gone postal.
The greatest atrocities in history, were a result of these ideologies converging.
Perhaps someone can remind me of something else that would put a dent in my thoughts on that.
What is the amber room?
Yes,lawsuits will probably result but the typical individual will,I suspect, have trouble proving ownership of a particular item.It seems possible that governments might wind up benefiting.
Just a guess on my part.
