TV Networks Make Waves for Trump

The fascination of the news media with Donald Trump is ironic, to say the least. For people who have long lamented the domination of Big Money in politics, these reporters are presenting Mr. Big Money himself with a ticker tape parade of free media.

It could be considered hypocritical, too. Big Money is a bad thing -- unless they're the ones making it. Fox's 24 million viewers for their debate proved Trump's market value; ever since that debate, it's been all media, all the time for him.

One might have assumed that other candidates would have gotten more attention after the debate, but the Trump trend has only intensified. A new study of evening news by the Media Research Center reveals that in the two weeks leading up the debate, Trump drew 26 minutes and 40 seconds of evening news coverage -- compared to 22 minutes and 16 seconds for the entire rest of the GOP field.

But in the two weeks following the debate, Trump drew almost 70 minutes of coverage, which is almost 2.5 times as much as the rest of the field (27 minutes, 38 seconds) combined. You can't say this doesn't affect the polls. Voters relying on TV news would think there was only one serious contender in the race.

Consider this anecdote: On August 17, the day Trump went to jury duty, the evening newscasts gave him almost five minutes of coverage, more than any of his rivals not named Bush received in the two weeks after the debate. And he was off the campaign trail!

Then reporters declare mischievously that Trump is "dominating the national conversation" and depriving the other Republicans of "oxygen," as if they had absolutely nothing to do with that, which they alone control.

The coverage of Trump hasn't been positive, and it no doubt reflects a partisan glee within the liberal media, as explained by former Newsweek writer Jonathan Alter on MSNBC. "They're getting what they deserve. They have created 'Trumpenstein.' It's their own Frankenstein monster."

In the minds of liberal journalists, one can't seriously question the liberal tilt toward greater and greater leniency on illegal immigration. To them, it is self-evidently racist and politically disastrous. Yet the more they say this, the stronger he gets.

This Trump trend has also led to the Republican race getting far more TV attention. In the first six months of 2015, the parties were close to even in coverage, despite the one-sided Democrat race -- 191 minutes for the GOP, 151 for the Democrats. But since July 1, Trump's ascent has led to a much greater disparity: 222 minutes for the Republicans, just 70 for the Democrats.

For the leftists pushing "campaign finance reform," it looks really bleak. In these four weeks, while Trump drew almost 97 minutes of televised attention, Bernie Sanders -- that socialist dragon-slayer of Big Money Domination -- drew less than four.

Hillary Clinton was granted 64 minutes of coverage. But what's amazing about the Democratic side is how these same networks have put on Trump over and over again on their weekday and Sunday interview shows in the morning, while Clinton appears nowhere ... and no one finds that a remarkably odd way for Clinton to (not) campaign for president.

By contrast, eight years ago, a Media Research Center study found Hillary Clinton (and her campaign aides) were granted the most morning-show interview air time with 89 minutes. The closest Republican, Mitt Romney, had 40.

No one seems to think that Clinton looks weak and cowardly. Perhaps her latest fiasco of a press conference, with bad jokes about wiping her e-mail server with a cloth, makes Democrats think it's wise for her to steer clear of the press. But it's hard to imagine her tackling Trump when she can't even take on her foundation donor, George Stephanopoulos.

Trump gives them all his phone number and says call me. Ask me anything. Other candidates say call my campaign mgr. Tell us what you will ask. No you cannot ask that. No he will not go on air at 6a. Maybe later but what will you ask? Do not ask that. Trump says call me anytime. This was stated by an Msnbc anchor

It’s also interesting the number of news stories that have been done about how much the press is covering Trump vs. the other candidates - the same news organizations and news programs that were doing the very thing and made the decisions they were “analyzing.”

CNN hosts the next debate. They want Trump on as much as possible in the lead up to the debate. It will be a ratings bonanza.

UNIVISION agit-prop to clinch the IPO deal. Manipulating the financial sector by reporting Univision has more viewers than abccbsnbc.

(waiting for hysterical laughter to die down)

NYP EXCERPT---Univions trotted out Bill Clinton to talk to advertisers----as private equity owners of the debt-laden company sweat. Univision’s owners are hoping to launch the IPO in just weeks. Getting early commitments on ad spending from Madison Avenue would certainly make an IPO road show before potential investors that much easier....they hope to raise around $1 billion at a valuation of $20 billion, according to Reuters. (Univision has $9 billion in long-term debt.) Mexican program provider Televisa also has an 8 percent stake.Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and Deutsche Bank — the lead underwriters — are getting ready to gin up some sizzle for a not very sexy business: free-to-air .

==================================================

THE BIG BURRITO---HILLARY/BILL CLINTON MEDIA CONNECTION---Latino-TV Univision owner, Haim Saban described his formula to influence American politics: make donations to political parties, establish think tanks, and control media outlets. (WIKI)

WIKI--Saban became involved in politics in the mid-1990s when he felt that support for Israel was slipping in the United States.[5]

Saban has been a generous and consistent donor to the United States Democratic Party according to his mandatory Federal Election Commission filings.

Mother Jones, in an analysis of the major donors to the campaigns of 1998 election cycle, ranked Saban 155th among individual donors.[23] Amy Paris noted that Saban's Clinton-era "generosity did not go unrewarded. During the Clinton administration, the entertainment executive served on the President's Export Council, advising the White House on trade issues."[23]

The New York Times reported that Haim and his wife "slept in the White House several times during President Clinton's two terms." Saban remains close friends with the former President. Clinton described Saban as a "very good friend and supporter."[5]

Saban contributed between $5 million to $10 million to the William J. Clinton Foundation.[24]

During the 2000 presidential election, Saban increased his rank to 5th among individual donors with a combined contribution of $1,250,500.[23] Matthew Yglesias wrote that "Saban was the largest overall contributor to the Democratic National Committee during the 2001–2002 cycle." [25] Saban's donations during that 2001–2002 period exceeded $10 million, the largest donation the DNC has received from a single source up to that time.

In September 2004, Hillary Clinton described Saban as a very good friend, supporter and adviser: "I am grateful for his commitment to Israel, to a just and lasting peace in the Middle East and to my foundation's work, particularly on reconciliation issues."[5] In May 2007, Haim publicly declared his support for Clinton in 2008 presidential election.[20]

In June 2007, Saban and Steven Spielberg co-hosted a Hillary Clinton fundraiser at the house of Peter Chernin, the President of News Corporation.[26] According to the Los Angeles Times,[26] the fundraiser brought in over $850,000.

In March 2008, Saban was among a group of major Jewish donors to sign a letter to Democratic Party house leader Nancy Pelosi warning her to "keep out of the Democratic presidential primaries."[27] The donors, who "were strong supporters of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton presidential campaign", "were incensed by a March 16 interview in which Pelosi said that party 'superdelegates' should heed the will of the majority in selecting a candidate."[27] The letter to Pelosi stated the donors "have been strong supporters of the DCCC" and implied, according to The Jewish Telegraphic Agency,[27] that Pelosi could lose their financial support in important upcoming congressional elections.

On May 19, 2008, it was reported that Haim Saban had "offered $1 million to the Young Democrats of America during a phone conversation in which he also pressed for the organization's two uncommitted superdelegates to endorse the New York Democrat."[28)

Saban, a long-time supporter and donor of many pro-Jewish and Israel causes, has stated his main goal in multiple interviews: "I'm a one-issue guy, and my issue is Israel."[38]

Haim Saban, a worldwide pioneer and leader in the
entertainment industry, is the Chairman and CEO of
Saban Capital Group, Inc.

What is really puzzling me is both left and right media pundits including Fox are trying their best to get rid of a really good American, a very successful and philanthropic American by eviscerating him at every turn...but these same people have let a fraud move lawlessly through our Constitution, those laws and other laws Obama deems a hindrance to his agendas and its hands off this Black...because he is Black not because he is lawless and a crook....they instead vent their hate for a man like Trump, the good American who loves his country.

The people who still believe in the Constitution, the rule of law and true fairness see through this socialized, communist leaning establishment are not having any of the same 'ol, same 'ol Washington oligarchy of lobbiests and other power brokers....Trump looks pretty good compaired to that.

that is a very foolish position

Fox has the only conservative view and MSNBC has no conservative word at all.

You paint with too broad a brush.

CNN is the only former mainline cable TV outlet that might benefit from a repentance of past sins and hire new truly "fair and balanced" reporters and producers (while reading the riot act to current employees) and then name Sarah Palin as a top executive of CNN.

I have just laid out one possible path for CNN's resurgence in the coming years.

The claim that Trump is sucking the air from the other candidates offering serious positions can be demonstrated with his statement of China’s Xin Ping geting a big Mack lunch instead of a state dinner.

Walker said he should be made unwelcome and told not to come. Walker’s reasons mentioned all the krap China has been pulling off. From devaluating yuan, hacking, plus their treatment of Christians, etc etc.

Anybody hear about it ? Not a word from the Polish Princess (Laura Ingraham) she was all about Trump’s brunch in her broadcast. But she wasn’t alone, Walker along with Jindal, and Cruz responses were spiked. That’s Entertainment ! The problem is; Do we really want some guy spouting one liner insults when we need a paragraph of attacks on the democrats destroying this country .
