A gunman killed a reporter and videographer for a CBS affiliate in Virginia in a shooting that was broadcast live Wednesday morning.
Alison Parker and Adam Ward, a reporter and cameraman for CBS Roanoke affiliate WDBJ-TV, died in the shooting, Parker's mother confirmed to CBS News.
WDBJ-TV reports that deputies from Franklin County and Bedford County were on the scene.
The shooting happened at Bridgewater Plaza in Moneta, Virginia.
There is actually a Muslims of America community an hour away, in Red House, Va.
I read that the manager quickly announced their deaths. That’s what I based my comment upon.
In the highest tradition of cameramen—he took the picture of his killer. The man will be caught and convicted. A horror—

Social media is aflame with foreign lefties calling Americans idiots for allowing guns to be so freely available.
The YouTube comments for the video are replete with "wake up America" comments. Nevermind this could've been perpetrated by someone with an axe or a machete or a hammer, but because it's a gun, it's immediately the gun's fault.
I think people think that without guns, the bad guys will have a harder time killing. What they don't realize is that the closing time for a knife-wielding psycho intent on a melee kill is so short as to be nonexistent for someone to defend themselves, let alone if that person has zero training in self defense.
Everyone is an expert on close quarters self defense until they're put into a situation where they're reacting to a threat.
MONETA, Va. (CBSNewYork/AP) The NYPD is stepping up patrols at media outlets following the deaths of a CBS affiliate reporter and cameraman who were fatally shot during a live broadcast in central Virginia.
WDBJ-TV reporter Alison Parker, 24, and cameraman Adam Ward, 27, were shot and killed shortly after 6:45 a.m. Wednesday while conducting a live interview at the Bridgewater Plaza shopping mall in Moneta, the stations general manager, Jeffrey A. Marks, said.

I'll just wait until they find & grease the POS.
If you google map the area in Red House, the trailers are gone. There is just a store there now.
And sorry I did not complete the thought in the queens English for you, but “or anything” clearly means or anything related to them. And the D is right beside the R, and I haven’t my had coffee yet.
Go be a anal bead somewhere else. Trying to think about that nice lady and that cameraman.
Hmmm. Why?
The odds are it was a white guy with a gun, which recent history has shown this to be.
Of course foreigners are going to be saying that
“Too me it has the look of a deranged psycho.”
I won’t add to the speculation except to say that my friends in law enforcement always put the husband/fiance/boyfriend at the top of their list of suspects in cases like this.
It's also Amish. The Amish believed that a mustache represented authority figures as were found in the old world. Hence the reason police are often associated with mustaches.
If you look at the rest of the shooter's neck, it's very dark, almost black. That's not a beard, it's shadowing.
Or a deranged ex-boyfriend psycho?
