The 1996 Republican Party Platform [anchor babies]
CNN ^ | August 15, 1996 | RNC

Posted on 08/21/2015 5:35:23 PM PDT by donna

Illegal aliens should not receive public benefits other than emergency aid, and those who become parents while illegally in the United States should not be qualified to claim benefits for their offspring.

Legal immigrants should depend for assistance on their sponsors, who are legally responsible for their financial well-being, not the American taxpayers. Just as we require "deadbeat dads" to provide for the children they bring into the world, we should require "deadbeat sponsors" to provide for the immigrants they bring into the country.

We support a constitutional amendment or constitutionally-valid legislation declaring that children born in the United States of parents who are not legally present in the United States or who are not long-term residents are not automatically citizens.

Good job, donna. How far the Republican Party has sunk since then is pitiful.

Perhaps they saw that the Republicans won the Presidency that year and are scared of a repeat.

Only white dads are made to pay for their kids.

But here we pay for entire illegal immigrant families.

Bush & Dole lost because Clinton and Rahm Emmanuel were better on immigration.

I heard Michael Medved shilling for the Democrats and Chamber of Crony Capitalism this afternoon, repeatedly citing a WSJ editorial, claiming that THE AUTHORS OF THE 14TH AMENDMENT IN 1868 INTENDED TO CREATE ANCHOR BABIES.

Since all freed slaves are now deceased, THE 14TH AMENDMENT SHOULD BE REPEALED. This would do away with anchor babies, AND the bogus “incorporation doctrine,” which has distorted the meaning of the whole Bill of Rights.

A day or two ago, I heard Medved talking about “birthers” and how can anyone now support Cruz and whoever for president... he got all emotional.

Medved is always such a stickler for facts and history, I wanted to ask him what evidence he has that birthers are supporting a particular candidate. He was a GOPe- wreck!

Medved... Medved serves as Wormtongue, whispering defeat into the ears of border patriots and anyone else who opposes the GOP-establishment.

He was a traitor back during Vietnam. He’s still a traitor, he’s just gotten better at concealing it.

We won in 1996? That’s news to Bob Dole.

Republican Delegates come from all the states to represent the grassroots in the writing of the national platform. And then the GOPe does this:

Dole Rejects a Party Plank
August 24, 1996

NASHVILLE, Aug. 23— Publicly repudiating a portion of his party's platform for the first time since the Republican National Convention, Bob Dole told a convention of black journalists here today that he would not support a constitutional amendment to deny automatic citizenship for children who are born in this country to illegal immigrants.

Mr. Dole, who made no secret at the convention that he had not yet read the entire platform, implied today that he had now given it a more thorough review and did not like everything he saw, including the proposed immigration amendment.

‘’I have due respect for the platform,’’ Mr. Dole said. ‘’I read a lot of parts that I thought were essential. I approved of a lot of parts that I thought were essential. That was not one of them.’’ (snip)

Perfect and scary description!
