The conservative Christian organization for which Josh Duggar was a lobbyist has released a statement following his confession Thursday that he cheated on his wife Anna and was addicted to pornography.
"Last night we learned from online reports about allegations concerning Josh Duggar and then read his confession today. We are grieved by Josh's conduct and the devastating impact of his pornography addiction and marital unfaithfulness," reads the statement from Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council. "Our hearts hurt for his family, and all those affected by Josh's actions. His deceitful behavior harms his family, his friends, his former coworkers, and the cause he has publicly espoused."
"Those of us who advocate for family values in the public square are held to a higher standard, and Josh's failures serve as a painful reminder of the destructive effects of not living with integrity," Perkins continues. "We are praying for the family."

This has turned out badly for the Family Research Council.
We are all sinners saved by grace, but the idea that “all sins are equal in God’s eyes” is a silly modern phenomenon. Yes, all sin separates us from God and we need forgiveness through Christ. But not all sin results in the hurt and devastating consequences that adultery, lust and fornication by a religious leader does.
I was thinking the same thing. You know they really should have checked into his past.

I agree. A company like Subway isn’t defined by the behavior of a person who happened to appear in their ads. They never said he was a great guy - just that he lost weight. The whole thing was silly, anyway. I could eat a Subway sandwich daily on the Weight Watchers program and lose weight.
The FRC, on the other hand, is running with the premise that they are moral people, and that life works out better for moral people. Josh Duggar is a major argument against that claim. He really blows the whole concept of his family, which was that, maybe you don’t want to live like them, but if you did, your children would turn out great. Well, whooooops!
Just because we all sin does not mean that his behavior was not deplorable. He betrayed his wife, his family, FRC, and the entire public that he used as an audience by presenting himself in a deceitful way. He’s a bum.
“He who is without sin cast the first stone” has come to mean something I think it was never meant to mean. Men were going to throw literal stones at a woman with the goal of killing her for a sin they themselves were guilty of. Jesus pointed out that if she deserves that punishment then so do they. It was not that he thought society should stop calling adultery wrong.
Unless Josh does gender transplant and becomes a street walker, it is clear that it was meant for female prostitutes, quite literally. Anything beyond is your false interpretation.
