An administrator at the University of Wisconsin-Madison suggested at a recent roundtable conversation that, in order to combat "overpolicing" in the community, police should no longer respond to shoplifting claims at large stores such as Wal-Mart, and shouldn't agree to prosecute people caught stealing.
"I just don't think that they should be prosecuting cases ... for people who steal from Wal-Mart. I just don't think that, right?" said UW-Madison director of community relations Everett Mitchell. "I don't think [with] Target or all them other places, them big box stores that have insurance, they should be using justification, the fact that people steal from there as justification to start engaging in aggressive police practices, right?"

Thieves don’t just steal merchandise and money.
They steal your freedom.
Let’s say a thief breaks into your house and steals your $1000 TV.
If you are making $20 an hour, you worked 50 hours to get that TV.
That’s 50 hours that you could have spent fishing or working on the lawn, but in order to buy that TV, you sold 50 hours of your freedom. That’s a choice that we make. Now, you have to give up another 50 hours of freedom to get another TV.
So, when the thief grabs your TV, he is also grabbing your freedom.
And it is the same for thieves stealing from stores or the businesses they work for or the government.
Thieves are tyrants. They steal your freedom. They should be treated like tyrants.
Let this dumb-ass administrator open her home up to BLM and give them room to loot and burn.
Not faculty. An illiterate affirmative action token.
It isn’t any of his freaking business what stores and local police departments do to enforce shoplifting laws. It is hard to believe that these people actually have college degrees. Thanks affirmative action.
I am having flashbacks to being 12 years old and watching looters on TV during the New York City Blackout.
“This is God’s way of giving us an opportunity to get EVEN with THE MAN!” was the cry of nearly every one of them.
He’s a professor and he comes up with this crap? he should be fired, for gross stupidity.
Yeah, really. You’d think that along with everything else he’s accused of Scott Walker would have eliminated this moron’s job.
Somebody needs to tell the administrator of the famous quote attributed to Willie Sutton the famed bank robber, in answer to the question, "Why do you rob banks?"
He said, "Because that's where the money is."
The police respond to shoplifters at the big box stores because that's where the criminals are.
Hes a professor and he comes up with this crap? he should be fired, for gross stupidity.

Oops. Not a professor but an administrator. Still fire his dumb a$$>
I wonder who wrote that for him?
You can be 100% certain it was not Michelle Obama.
I dont think [with] Target or all them other places, them big box stores that have insurance, they should be using justification, the fact that people steal from there as justification to start engaging in aggressive police practices, right?
Uh-huh.
Professor Gimmefreesh1t.
I cant stand this lawless filth in my state.
Yup. Just Googled him before I saw these pics. Wasn’t surprised he’s one of Holder’s people.
Going by the Administrator’s logic if he has insurance and a student gives him a beating, the student shouldn’t be arrested.
He’s absolutely right. Police shouldn’t prosecute shoplifters... that’s what we have prosecutors for. Arresting them is the police’s job.
Ignorance on parade.
“I don’t think [with] Target or all them other places, them big box stores that have insurance, they should be using justification, the fact that people steal from there as justification to start engaging in aggressive police practices, right?”
A university administrator, eh? Let me guess... an AA hire, right?
I would suspect that this barely literate spokesman grew up as a thief and condones theft.
