Jeb! and Colomba met in Mexico when he was a mere lad of 17 on an exchange program. That much is know, but the circumstances of her entering our country have not been adequately explained. She came here before she married Jeb. Likely she was not legally here, and that’s why Jeb and his big brother George speak so “compassionately” about illegal immigrants in our midst, rule of law be damned! Love conquers all, etc etc etc.
Changing birthright citizenship would require a constitutional amendment, which Cruz acknowledged as “difficult.”

Jeb’s solution is to make everyone retroactively legal.
See, here’s the problem, Jeb, it’s that ILLEGAL part that’s the problem. It is that anchor baby who permits access into the welfare system (WIC, SNAP, SSI, etc) for the whole family to ‘enjoy.’ Section 8 housing? Sure, if you’ve got a citizen to put on the application. It’d be downright rude of us to ask that everyone who lived there was, you know, LEGAL.
We’ve tried amnesty, and you’ve got people who have lived here for 40 years and never bothered to contemplate taking advantage of either of the two programs. It doesn’t work. What they absolutely would love is retroactive social security and a plane ticket home with monthly checks deposited in their account and semi-annual trips to visit the grandkids back in the US.
Enough is enough; stop mischaracterizing the debate (but, see, that might exclude people who are legal! - which no one has really suggested strongly), stop pandering to illegals (they are barred from voting - but hey, what’s one more law broken?), and man up.

Cruz was born in Canada.....and to quell the troubled waters, he recently renounced his Canadian citizenship.
Even though only his father is Hispanic....Cruz has always portrayed himself as 100% Hispanic. ......he’s dined out on his last name for ages.
