I don’t know, it couldn’t make Detroit worse. In fact I think flamethrower owners in the area should get grants for urban planning.

We call those things “pearburners”-not “flamethrowers”-they are a common tool on ranches, but I can’t imagine they would be used for anything in a city that wasn’t dangerous to someone...

I was expecting something like a propane weed burner but this unit is an actual flamethrower. Pretty cool.

I remember an old Lassie show in which a farmer uses a flame thrower to control a locust infestation.
I understand Detroit is full of locusts that need to be controlled.

The mayor can call these “pretty specious” and “silly,” but they’ve used them on farms for years just for that purpose.
I used one on my uncle’s farm back in the early 60’s.

I should probably get one of those for weed and yellow jacket control.
My wife has been telling me for years that my “backpack sprayer filled with gasoline” method is dangerous...

$900-$1600 each.
I’m going to pass on one of these. Harbor Freight should be selling knockoffs in the $30-$40 range in a couple months.
To: jmcenanly
The mayor fears that they might be used as personal defense weapons.

I like the idea of the "
X15" personal flamethrower. Even sells a jelling agent for that true flamethrower experience. . . (evil grin)

As always, they never see the real problem: individuals whose “value system” allows them to use a flamethrower against people, animals or property.
Their first reaction is to ban things. They should ban liberal policies that created the street savages with no value system.

"You know something like this will be used by bad people for bad things," Fouts said, adding that he thought it was "unthinkable" such a device would be sold to the general public. Better outlaw cars, trucks, aircraft, knives, baseball bats, sticks and rocks, then...........................................
