I know most Freepers don’t want to hear this but Jimmy Carter was one of the most authentic Presidents we have had. His simple life in Plains, His Sunday School teaching, and his worldwide charities are much to be lauded. His tenure as President and his democratic policies were much to be abhorred!

I agree with your post.
He was overwhelmed by the job of POTUS and relied on leftist advisors.
He basically stumbled into the job in the aftermath of Vietnam and Nixon.
But fundamentally a decent fellow.

He would have done better by being the President (CEO) of a furniture manufacturing company and by volunteering for Habitat for Humanity. POTUS and probably Governor of Georgia were out of his league.

I voted for him once and how I wish I could take that vote back.

And yes he did charity work after leaving office but he never learned to shut his mouth about every President who followed him, making him very unpresidential.

And his certification of stolen elections by tyrants? Is that part of his “worldwide charity” that should be lauded?

He has said some really hateful things these last few years.

He will have to explain himself before God why it was he slandered God’s chosen people.

I agree. Carter is by all accounts a good man even though he was a terrible President. With his personality and instincts, he should have become a professional preacher or run a non-profit charity full time rather than going into politics.

A lot of people compare Obama to Carter, which I think is unfair. I can't picture Obama graduating from US Naval Academy or taking courses in nuclear engineering. Furthermore, there never seemed to be any guile to Carter, while Obama is a conniving, manipulative fraud.

You bring up some good points. If I remember correctly his last Sec-Def set him right and Carter did not stop the work that lead to the F117A and the B-2, which had gone on since 1974 behind the scenes...https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_Have_Blue
