The Trump has landed - Deal With It (Time Mag cover story)
TIME MAGAZINE ^ | Michael Scherer

Posted on 08/20/2015 5:56:57 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

There are some things you just can’t do in politics, not at the presidential level, anyway.

This is a game like any other, with rules honed over decades by the pros in blue blazers clutching focus-group results: Be likable. Don’t make enemies. Respect the party elders. Avoid funny hats. And never wear white bucks or French cuffs to the Iowa State Fair, a flyover fantasyland of cholesterol and common decency where the life-size butter cow grazes behind glass with the life-size butter Uncle Pennybags from Monopoly.

That’s why Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker wore jeans to pose atop the hay bales this year. Former HP CEO Carly Fiorina featured pink plaid—Farmer Jane meets Disney princess—and Democratic front runner Hillary Clinton dug up a blouse of blue gingham, hoisting her pork chop on a stick like a blue ribbon for authenticity. They all played it well, adhering to the sacred promise that if they pretend to be like everyone else, voters might think they actually are.

Then a buzzing came across the sky. A $7 million Sikorsky helicopter, sent over six states in at least four hops by its billionaire owner, descended in tight circles on the crowd, the name of the Republican front runner for the 2016 presidential nomination emblazoned on the tail. Donald John Trump, at roughly 25% in the national GOP polls, about twice his nearest rival, emerged in Des Moines with his golden mane encased in a big ruby baseball cap, his cuffs flashing diamond links and his shoes shining brighter than bleached teeth.

The state trooper in charge of the event told the governor that in all his years working the fair, he had never seen a candidate mobbed like Trump.

You had to know Miller was going to say that.

OTOH, listening to Beck, for the first time in months this morning in the car, and believe it or not, he’s insinuating that Trump’s wife has made a porn movie. I am not joking, Folks.

I think we all know that she did some nude modeling, but BEck said she did a porn movie.

Then the slime ball went on to make some more derogatory remarks about Trump not being sincere, and is going to form a third party etc etc.

Then he and his sidekick talked about Trump being afraid to come their show etc etc.

This guy is crap. He had a short moment when O’Reilly seized on his fleeting popularity, but the guy is most definitely on a dry drunk. He has a thinly cloaked anger beneath his surface.

The guy is dangerous. He treated Newt the same way.

I will not listen to him again.

Finally catching up. At one point kg the video on TV of the TIME. Photo shoot. Trump appears to be talking with the bird. See if you can find it. If the shoot is on line. Looks like TIME. Choose the perfect setting for the shoot

“Trump’s unstoppable.”

I pray you’re right. A couple days ago on Fox I heard that the GOPe is organizing a full-court press to end Trump’s candidacy beginning Labor Day. I’m sure their flying monkeys, P.I.s, etc., are working overtime to come up with something to try to make this happen.

I pray...

I’ve noticed that Fox is getting the snub, by Trump...and, rightly so.

I’d be curious to know what the CNN/Chris Coumo show’s ratings were last night - with Trump on the whole hour - compared to FNC’s MIA Kelly File show ;-)

“Trump might become the de facto President by this time next year”

He’s already acting like he’s the President, which is a good thing.

Not only that, Dennis Miller told BOR he wants to be Trump’s Press Secretary. I’ll bet he’d take the job, too.

Trump has always know how to capture the attention of the media. If anyone tries anything cute, he will expose them.

The GOP is disliked because its leaders are weak. They can't beat Trump. Trump made a living among some of the dirtiest, meanest SOB's in the world. The GOP is nothing in comparison.

That said, I don't blame them for trying to stop Trump's hostile takeover of their party. If he does, he becomes their boss and will fire their unelected component and force elected members of the GOP to play by his rules or shut up and go to the back of the room.

One more point. Trump has the money and connections to obtain all the intel he needs from the GOP. He's not going to let them get the upper hand.

Keep an eye on Roger Stone. He may have left the Trump campaign for strategic reasons.

“Beck’s insinuating that Trump’s wife has made a porn movie.”

Interesting that a disgusting alcoholic who caused his family to disintegrate can find it within himself to criticize another’s (possible) prior shortcomings. What kind of a Christian doesn’t believe that people’s lives can change, or believe in the concept of redemption?

I just scanned the ratings numbers for August 18th at TVByTheNumbers.com (click here to compare August 10th numbers) and it looks like Fox is down a wee bit in the last few weeks except for Sean, BOR, and Greta.

The real drop probably is in the fact that Trump is simply not calling in to chat.

I notice that the Kelly File is down a good bit but that may or may not be due to her being on vacation.

The hate the man has for Trump is obvious. It is visceral. I mean, I’m a physician, and this guy has psych issues, no doubt. I think the man is on a dry drunk, probably is dealing with his addiction obviously on a daily basis, but I sense he’s about to break. It was embarrassing to listen to him. He honestly believes that Trump is a phony with no redeeming values, and could not possibly be good for our country. The same exact comments he made about Newt.
