Donald Trump told host Chuck Todd of Meet the Press that he would deport all illegal aliens if he were elected president. “They have to go,” he told Todd.
“We’re going to keep the families together, but they have to go,” he said in the interview, which will air in full on NBC’s “Meet the Press” this Sunday.
Pressed on what he’d do if the immigrants in question had nowhere to return to, Trump reiterated: “They have to go.”
“We will work with them. They have to go. Chuck, we either have a country, or we don’t have a country,” he said.
Speaking on Trump’s gilded private plane as it idled on a runway in Des Moines, Iowa, the real-estate mogul and Republican presidential frontrunner offered the first outlines of the immigration policy proposals he’d implement from the Oval Office.
Trump said, to begin, “we have to” rescind Obama’s executive order offering those brought to the U.S. illegally as children known as DREAMers protection from deportation, as well as Obama’s unilateral move to delay deportation for their families as well.
“We have to make a whole new set of standards” for those immigrating to the US.
The comments are certain to further inflame already fierce opposition from Latino activists and advocacy groups. They’ve been critical of Trump’s candidacy from the start, when he kicked off his campaign with a speech that accused Mexico of sending “criminals” and “rapists” to the U.S.
Trump was hazy on the details of his deportation plan. Presumably it would be legal, which means amending the Constitution to make it possible to deport so-called “anchor babies” — children born in the U.S. of illegal parents. Either that, or simply allow anchor-baby families to remain in the U.S. and grant them legal status.
Somehow, I doubt he would employ that option.
Then, there is the due process that illegal aliens have a right to, according to the law. They can’t be deported without it, and with 11 million court cases coming, he might want to think of increasing the number of immigration judges by a factor of about a thousand. Or perhaps we could change the law and deny illegals due process.
Of course, we’d have to round them all up to deport them. “Papers, please” will become an American catchword in the near future if Trump wins. And where would we keep them all? Jails are already seriously overcrowded so maybe we can build some “camps” — you know, like all totalitarian regimes have — to keep the illegals penned up until their hearing.
Repealing Obama’s executive orders are fine, although there would be a court challenge on behalf of DREAMers because they’ve already been given legal status. Other steps that could be taken include putting some teeth in employer sanctions for hiring illegals, and making it much harder for cities to defy immigration law so that ICE can deport criminals.
As for the rest of the 11 million illegals, Trump is right. “We either have a country or we don’t have a country.” It’s just that Trump’s idea of what America is and what it stands for is as alien as any illegal who jumps the border.
I know! Encouraging these tough courageous loving people to become refugees from their beloved Mexican Motherland to live on welfare in the barrios of the USA - is cultural genocide!
Preach it!
I get so SICK of virtually everyone saying “it can’t be done.”
Why why it can’t be done is never explained.
Jail employers who hire illegals
I am FOR a ‘guest worker’ program- come to the USA for temporary migrant worker status, do your job, go home.
I bet most of them would like to do that anyway. But at least we would know who they are, have their picture ID and fingerprints, and stop the illegal crossings
“The fine on people who employ illegals should start at $100,000 per instance and go up from there for each new series of violations.
And corporate executives should be held personally liable for the actions of their companies so as to prevent the likes of Wal Mart from hiring contractors who hire illegals to get around employment laws.”
You really have to get State and local authorities in on this game the Federal enforcement arms don’t have the manpower to enforce such laws effectively and we really don’t want them to.
Find the employees but pay the State and local governments for every illegal alien they turn over.
Cut the benefits, do it state by state. Immediately deport all felons.
No jobs without papers of some kind that identify legal status to be here.
Any employers violating the law by hiring illegals have to be punished.
After a while, the incentive to be here won’t be so great.
TURN OFF THE MAGNET!!!!
Once the word goes out the illegals will number one stop trying to come and number two the ones here or a good number of them will self deport.
Logistics?
This nation cut a canal between two oceans, defeated two military superpowers, and put a car on the Moon and Mars.
This wont be too hard.
SPARTAN: I'm concerned about the logistics of removing 34 million invaders from Greece.
ATHENIAN: It concerns me too. The cost of complementary smoked almonds and pillow mints alone would be staggering. We'd better learn to speak Persian.
Many good politicians and many fine commentators preach conservative principles but when it comes to action they don’t want to do the heavy lifting ... they’re afraid or too busy (or too lazy) to do what must be done. ... They’d rather talk about “what must be done” and discourage those who try to do it.
RE: Get a truck.
Load it up.
Drive to Border.
Dump.

Here are the logistical issues:
1) There is the due process that illegal aliens have a right to, according to the law, They cant be deported without it, and with 11 million court cases coming, do we simply ignore or repeal this law?
2) How many agents do we hire to go house to house to search for them?
3) How many trucks does the Immigration department have to buy to dump 11 million illegals.
4) Once you dump them, where will we put these trucks when they sneak back?

Unless you want to repeat what we did with the wars, could you give us details?
This is for first occurrence. The second time, a mandatory prison sentence. In less than a year, illegals will think that Mexico is paradise on a stick.
The author is an idiot. Cut out the welfare/handouts, including ALL funding for ‘sanctuary cities’, fine employers for hiring illegals. They’ll leave on their own. While we’re at it, enough of these so called “refugees” from Somalia and other Muslim countries.
As is turning off the spigot of refugee resettlement and chain migration of relatives of those here.
AND EVERYTHING IS PRINTED OR SPOKEN IN ENGLISH.
IF THOSE INVADERS WANT TO KNOW WHAT WE ARE SAYING, LET THEM PAY FOR A TRANSLATOR.
The logistics?
Planes, trains and automobiles.
And trebuchets.
I like trebuchets.
“Can we please deal with his question instead of attacking the man?”
The man is whining. That’s an observation, not an attack.
Did YOU deal with the question yet?
RE: The man is whining. Thats an observation, not an attack.
The man is asking a legitimate question. To wit:
There is the due process that illegal aliens have a right to, according to the law. They cant be deported without it, and with 11 million court cases coming, he might want to think of increasing the number of immigration judges by a factor of about a thousand. Or perhaps we could change the law and deny illegals due process.
How is that whining? It’s a legitimate question.
Now in regards to your statement:
Did YOU deal with the question yet?
Here’s my answer -— The only solution I can see is PUNITIVE.
1) Deny illegals welfare
2) Punish and fine employers for hiring them without verifying immigration legality.
3) Withhold federal money to sanctuary cities.
Each of the above are easy to say but will require a huge fight to implement.
That’s where Trump’s case of the black father standing up and talking about his dead teenaged son stood out.
Illegals killing Americans that Americans didn’t kill; it didn’t matter what race the victim was, he was someone with promise killed by a thug who would have been kept out by screening immigrants and jailing illegals.
