In a post debate interview with Sean Hannity, Ohio governor John Kasich called a past immigration vote of his "amnesty." Watch here:
"You had a great answer I thought on immigration," Hannity said. "We all have -- we all agree we got to build the fence. That's why Donald Trump is popular. You just dealt with it straight-up. I like that. What is the answer to the 11 million people, though?"
"Well, we've got to find out who they are. Look, the most important thing, Sean, is once we fix the border and build the fence and put all the things in, the new technology, we have to make one clear word, which is, if you come in again, you're going home. That's the end of it. You're going home. Look, I was there when Reagan did the amnesty thing. I was there -- amnesty -- I was there in '86. I voted for the bill.

The deal was, Reagan agreed to amnesty in exchange for Congress building a border wall.
And as always, Congress lied!
Jeb Kasich.
Reagan’s amnesty was his greatest regret AND was to be the only time it was to be granted. Now, congressional amnesia has struck again and we are flooded with even more low-skill, non-integrating folks that have no vested interest in these United States.
Of course you did, John.
All you have to do there Johnny boy is check the "DemocRAT" Party's voter rolls. They're all there.
President Reagan's one weakness was he tended to assume that the Democrats had the best interest of the country in mind, even if they didn't see eye to eye on how to accomplish goals. He assumed the Dems were, at their core, patriots. He was wrong.
AS noted above, at the end of his presidency Reagan admitted his greatest regret was pushing the '86 Immigration/Amnesty law.
All Kasich has to do is go to construction sites and other businesses that donate to his cause. I’d bet you’ll find invaders there.
He also voted for the 93 AWB, despite pledging not to.
At the last minute, he betrayed his constituents and cast the tying vote, which let Al Gore cast his vote as president of the Senate.
yeah and how did that work out?
Immigration is the key issue in this election because if the Democrats get their way and succeed in flooding the country(they have already done that with the help of George Bush and the Republican establishment) with illegals and succeed in getting them to vote, either legally or illegally, (they have almost accomplish that) the Republicans will not win an election for generations to come. If you want to facilitate illegal aliens voting, issue them drivers licenses which are nothing less than an official entry card into the voting booth.
John Kasich is utterly tone deaf and so far out of sync with the grassroots of the Republican Party that he has utterly disqualified himself. The sooner we get them off the debate stage the better.
Why doesn’t this guy go run with the dems? He talks like them and acts like them, and votes like them...he must be a dem!!!
Who and what are you talking about? John Kasich? John was never in the Senate -he was in the House of Representatives. So,he din’t cast a tying vote in the Senate. If that isn’t who you are talking about - then disregard this post.
Yes. Many of us got bamboozled by the amnesty promises made back in 1986. Problems were not fixed, which means we have an even worse problem now. Never again! Amnesty is a plot by democrats to acquire a permanent majority and nothing else.
You don’t have to find out who they are, you have to find who they are working for. Put that person in prison.
We all know it is greater then 11 million. I have seen that number since the 1980’s. Don’t provide jobs and the illegals will go back to Mexico.
Sorry, I’ve made this mistake here before.
Kasich voted for the AWB in the House, not the senate.
He promised not to up until the very minute he went into the chamber and voted FOR it.
I’ll try not to make that mistake in the future.
And that's even more true for EVERYONE today.
Don't trust Congress!
