Exclusive: Trump's Republican support holds strong post-debate - Reuters/Ipsos poll

There is no sign that Donald Trump's raucous first presidential debate is hurting his support among party voters, with the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll showing he still has a big lead over his rivals for the Republican presidential nomination.

Trump's staying power is defying predictions of political doom and leading some Republicans to explore ways to persuade him not to pursue a third-party bid should he falter in his quest for the Republican nomination in 2016.

Trump led the party's 17-strong 2016 presidential field with the backing of 24 percent of Republican voters, unchanged from before Thursday's televised debate, the Reuters/Ipsos poll found.

His closest rival, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, trails at 12 percent, down from 17 percent before the debate. No other candidate earned more than 8 percent in the online poll, conducted between the end of the debate and Sunday.

"They want someone who's an outsider, who can upset the applecart," said Craig Robinson, a former political director of the Iowa Republican Party. "They're willing to deal with a less-than-perfect candidate if they believe it will actually change things in Washington."

From the article: The debate did little to change Republican voters' opinions of Trump, the poll found. One-third said they liked him more after the debate, one-third said they liked him less, and the remaining third said their opinions had not changed.

Luntz's post-debate 'focus group' was terribly selected. Honestly, it appears to have been a set-up job. Wonder how they could prove that it wasn't?

Another online poll. Look forward to see what the real polls say.

Trump = 50% Bill Clinton / 50% Obama

Five year affair during first marriage, just as arrogant as Obama.

They are now scientifically polling online. For example, the earlier survey monkey poll got 3 MILLION responses, and from it they drew a scientific sample.

So, methods are changing due to changing technology.

It is a real poll. Get with times. Internet polls are scientific. And this particular one, Reuters, has been around for a while and is considered the best.

The survey monkey poll had Cruz at 3%. Another online poll today had him at 3%. Not scientific. Trump was at 23% and 32% respectively.

It is the height of hubris to tell Americans that they have a representative sample with just 20 people in it.

That is statistically impossible. Any legit national poll needs 1200-1500 randomly selected respondents to get to a 3-5% margin of error.

20 people: I’m guessing an MOE of greater than or equal to 50%. In other words, no better than a coin toss, and probably worse.

Yeah, but remember, Luntz’s thingamabob was a *focus group*, not a poll.

Which means, Fox News “focused” all of their king-making biases onto this tiny group like a seven year old focuses a sunbeam through a magnifying glass onto an insect.

It’s gruesome, but effective. :-)

They pretend that their focus groups are representative. Listen to them. I’ve heard it for some time now.

I don't get it.

"The Syndicated Columnist 'Chaals' Krauthammer", the dweeb Steve Hayes and the moron Frank Luntz all said that Trump was finished.

If you can't believe these clowns, who can you believe?

Here is my take. Trump did not lose or gain support, but he lost an opportunity to increase. The three that moved up are the other candidates in the non-politican group: Cruz, Carly and Carson. All other candidates are polling the same or down. So IMHO, Trump failed to pick-up to his strong suit which is the anti-politican voter.

How the race is shaping up is that Trump, Cruz, Carly and Carson are polling at a combined 54%. This could mean the winner of this group wins the nomination. This why Trump did not jump on the anit-Trump wagon. He is hoping if Trump fades he gains.

I don’t believe they misunderstand our anger.

I think they believe they can soothe-talk us into being ‘proper’ again by continuing to act as if they are our ‘leaders/betters’ and our reasonable, respected elders.

Well, they can go to hell. By themselves. That’s where they’ve been leading us. Let them take the plunge alone.

Of course they do! And the seven year old boys pretend that the charred ants in *their* focus groups go to heaven.

I don’t believe either of them! :-)
