Trump and Fox said to be in talks over Monday interview
CNN ^

Posted on 08/10/2015 6:59:32 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

Donald Trump and the Fox News Channel are in talks about Trump possibly appearing on Fox on Monday night, according to a source with knowledge of the talks.

Trump has been lambasting Fox for days, ever since he was challenged in last week's GOP debate.

It is "highly unlikely" Trump would appear at 9 p.m. with host Megyn Kelly, the source said, and that's probably an understatement. Trump has repeatedly and personally insulted Kelly in recent days.

But talks are underway about a Trump interview with another prime time host, like Sean Hannity, the source said, adding that nothing had been confirmed as of Monday morning.

In the meantime, Fox has dramatically ratcheted down its coverage of Trump. It hasn't covered Trump's criticisms of Kelly and the two other debate moderators, Chris Wallace and Bret Baier.

Trump's most recent tweet about Fox came on Sunday afternoon: "It amazes me that other networks seem to treat me so much better than Fox News. I brought them the biggest ratings in history, and I get zip!"

This is a true clash of titans. Fox News is the favored network of Republicans, and Trump is the Republican campaign front-runner.

>> "Hannity would be a good choice.

He breaks out the knee-pads for any Republican."

So true.

You know, for all his preaching about America on the brink and all his concern, I call on Sean Hannity to break rank with Fox and spill the beans. Explain everything behind the scenes: Obama, Murdoch, Ailes, O'Reilly, Megyn Motormouth. If anyone has any influence over FNC, if they are anything except perfectly neutral ( and I think we know the answer ) it needs to be exposed.

He's got enough damn money he should be willing to lose that gig in the interest of America which he says he cares so much about.

Well, the fact is to win in this day and age, you have to get a percentage of the LIV vote. And the percentage of LIVs grows with each election.

I don’t like it, but that’s the reality, and Trump has the ability to reach LIV voters unlike any standard Milquetoast Republican candidate.

The problem is that ego gets in the way. He probably thinks America needs him doing what he is doing at Fox.

Calm down, Clarence.

Fox is off, and I am on Free Republic.

More news, faster,and better analysis.

Why would I want to watch MSNBC?

Trump is cutting across all lines because the public is fed up with business as usual in DC.

Thanks to Trump, there have been RINO casualties all around.

So, why do you think he’s in the race?

To be honest I think Trump has a few “screws loose”- a mental problem with narcissism. I hope his wife sends him to the doctor to check for dementia or early onset of Alzheimers.

I saw him call all those shows yesterday. He sounds a little “unhinged” to me.

"We are over our Fox News habit. We turned it off on Thursday night and haven’t missed a thing. We get all the real news on the internet. There is no reason to subject oneself to the aggravation of being manipulated by the TV media, including Fox News."

Have done the same over the weekend. Using the Internet mostly, Drudge is probably the biggest winner in this mess.

Even had CNN on, really no difference. Jake Tapper is a famous (D) like most reporters, but there is hardly any real difference to the yapping harpies on Fox. Except - I know what to expect at CNN, unlike Fox, who are influenced by Murdoch and company.

I'm feeling more comfortable with 'the devil you know' ...

He could be just bi-polar. I know a few people like that.

Rand Paul sounds unhinged to me.

So does Jebthro Bush.

For an unhinged guy, he handled himself very well on the stage after being sandbagged three times in the first five minutes.

"Who called whom?

If FoxNews called Trump, they either want to try to capitalize on their 24 million viewership or they got so many complaints they fear losing regular viewership.

If Trump called FoxNews ... I don’t see that as being what happened."

He could really screw them up by saying he will only appear on programs that are commercial free including lead-in and lead-out.

Or ... a contract stating any advertising dollars that are 100% donated to a charity, NO PROFIT.

Hit them where it hurts or just go elsewhere.

"Trump just tweeted (about 5 minutes ago)

"Roger Ailes just called. He is a great guy & assures me that “Trump” will be treated fairly on @FoxNews. His word is always good!"

Sounds like Fox has decided they want to keep their viewership.... I've been saying they have more to lose from this deal than Trump does."

Reading between the lines: We know what Ailes and Fox is negotiating for ... to get Trump to stop mentioning Fox and Megyn negatively in interviews and tweets. They are getting hammered.

Populism will do that. Trump has the ability with a single tweet to stir up millions of people into a course of action. That tweet about Megyn Motormouth on Howard Stern probably murdered them. Even Barry doesn't have this ability any longer ( fatigue ).

It sounds like Trump has won and Ailes is surrendering. But ... I'm starting to worry we are NOT going to ever get to the bottom of this story: Murdoch-Ailes-Megyn-RNC-RedState and others who are still under the radar.

Yeah, hard questions are fine, but there’s a difference between “gotcha” questions and cat fight questions versus serious policy questions.

Bald assertions don't pass for supported arguments.

inside the beltway thinking is not a bald assertion....it’s provable, demonstrable, and obvious for the wise

"For sure! They’d be crazy if they didn’t try to take advantage of Fox’s screwup. Great opportunity for CNN and all they have to do is drop the liberal agenda and do straight news from 5pm to 9pm."

For the first time in years I've actually watched CNN and MSNBC over the weekend.

They are still as stupid as ever because their meme was pretty much: 'Trump controversial blood remark about "Fox News beloved star Megyn Kelly"'. It was surprisingly uniform in all segments I watched.

How ironic is that! MSNBC and CNN appearing to defend Megyn Motormouth. They are probably just piling on whoever they hate most.

If they were smart they might exploit it and do us a favor and investigate the connections with Murdoch, Ailes, RNC etc. I don't care who breaks the story, just break it and tell us who is manipulating us.

Actually a true debate.

One minute and 30 second time limits.

The moderators took up over 1/2 hour speaking.

Topic chosen

(In a fair debate, there would only be a few very relevant questions and each participant would have a chance to express their views on them.)

Yeah, the one chosen for Trump was about "women."

He said it was only Rosie O'Donnell. (long going feud going on there,) read up on what RO'D spewed at Trump.

And when he said "only Rosie" Kelly muttered in a stage whisper, yeah there were more or something similar to that. Did not give Trump a chance to dispute her. NOT the role of a moderator!

Each given a set time to express idea

Yeah, 60 seconds.

Questions chosen with consideration of which candidates the moderators favored or disliked.

If you do a little research, you will find that they were looking for a reason to 'escort Trump off the stage'
