BREAKING: Ted Cruz’s Support MORE THAN DOUBLES Following GOP Debate; Surges to Second Place; RINOs Crash

Ted Cruz, Carly Fiorina and Dr. Ben Carson moved up in the polls the most in the first polls conducted following the first GOP presidential debates.

In a new NBC News/Survey Monkey poll released on Sunday, Texas Senator Ted Cruz, a constitutional conservative, catapulted into second place overall, increasing by a whopping 7% over the prior poll, putting him at 13% overall, more than doubling his prior support of 6%, according to the poll.

Cruz, a former national collegiate debate champion, soared despite having his debate performance largely put on mute mode by major media outlets, including FOX News.

Businesswoman Carly Fiorina, who most believe won the “happy hour” debate among the bottom seven candidates, surged 6%, leapfrogging several candidates and is now tied for fourth place with Florida Senator Marco Rubio, whose numbers were unchanged following the debate.

Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson increased his poll numbers by three points, moving into third place overall. Carson was considered to have one of the strongest closing statements of any candidate in either debate.

Overall, it was a terrible night, according to the poll, for establishment RINO candidates. Establishment-backed candidate Jeb Bush, who has constantly been pushed by media outlets as the inevitable GOP nominee, fell from second place all the way to being tied for fifth place with Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. Both Bush and Walker had three points shaved off their prior to the debate numbers following their uninspiring debate performances.

Another RINO, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who got into a heated brouhaha with Kentucky Senator Rand Paul over the Fourth Amendment and NSA spying, crashed by 2/3, falling all the way to 1% from 3%. Rand Paul dropped 1%, but is now only 2% below Jeb Bush.

Ohio Governor John Kasich, who sounded like a big government progressive during the debate and was roundly praised by both liberal media and FOX News pundits, actually lost support, losing a full 1/3 of his prior supporters.

Below is the new breakdown for the still crowded GOP field following the first debates, according to the new NBC News/Survey Monkey poll:

Real estate tycoon Donald Trump helped himself slightly during the debate, according to the poll. Trump, who has left the political class shocked and dumbfounded over his surprising success, increased by 1% and leads at 23%, 10% over Cruz’s 13%.

I support Cruz as well. I can’t remember any better Conservative candidate in any election.

Right. This is not a linear exercise. Trump supporters are extrapolating from past data the way NASA is predicting the end of sea ice by 1999.

Here’s how this works from here: There is Trump, who has a following because he’s rude, and there’s everyone else. You like Trump for one reason, but you like a non-Trump for all other reasons. If you were going to join the Trump brigade (because it thrills you that he’s rude), you’ve most likely moved by now. You’ve seen him, heard him, read his tweets, and he doesn’t get more interesting from here. Just more of the same. His support is not linear; there’s a decreasing marginal return on style. His poll score is increasingly rigid as it climbs.

As the other candidates drop out, their support shifts within the non-Trump sector, more than it shifts to Trump. As time goes on, his lead shrinks. At the same time, his posturing about having all the money he needs will fade, because he doesn’t have the money he needs. (He’s not going to sell real estate to cash flow his campaign. He’s just not.)

Trump’s mistake and that of his supporters seems to be of a kind; taking the past as a linear trend. History is littered with that.

So glad to see this. Cruz up and all the RINOs are below. Fifty-five percent of the poll goes to Fiorina and above. All of them are considered to be outside the establishment and it looks like being considered an outsider gives you an advantage with the voters. Will the GOPee ever get the message? We aren’t buying what they are selling.

The way I look it it, Cruz sits between angry and aggressive Trump and calm and nice Carson. In my thinking it makes him the most widely acceptable candidate.

He speaks to the same issues as Trump but does it in a much more measured tone without getting rattled by dumb gotcha questions. The measured tone throws our opposition into turmoil because they don’t know how to deal with it.

After he called the code pink clowns to the front of the crowd when they were protesting him, they got into a big argument on twitter. One side saying that he had shown more respect for them than their democrat friends who simply call security when they don’t want them around. The other side was enraged that Medea Benjamin has allowed Ted Cruz to manipulate them.

There is something very Reaganesque in that but I think Cruz may have more steel in him than Reagan had.

Did you see how cute his daughters were at the end of the debate?

Aww! Too bad, they are AP pictures; otherwise I would have posted them here.

This is great news! Cruz is climbing steadily and has managed to stay completely above the fray among the other candidates. It’s illustrative to see how Fox News so blatantly ignores him, especially between 5 and 7 PM. Cruz is as anti-GOPe as they come.

Hi, there, girlie!

I missed the very end of the debate, so thank you for those great pics.

It was very sweet of Melania Trump to spend some time with those adorable girls...that’s lovely.

I love seeing a man with his little girls...there’s something just so cute about it. Love Ted’s family.

Great post. I agree that Ted may be an improvement on Reagan, even.

That’s the first time I’ve noticed the slogan on the back. LOL!

Wish Ted would come around here, but he announced his run at Liberty, so I doubt he will again.

I’m sure they have them from other sources. I just thought the girls looked so cute in their matching dresses.

It’s clear their dad loves them so much. I’d love to see small children in the White House. (And a dog and a cat)

I like that too. But I don’t believe as do so many here, that a liberal should be the GOP nominee.

One thing that hasn’t gotten a lot of attention is that Cruz has said on a few occasions that we should be a bit more choosy about what wars we decide to insert ourselves into and what allies we decide to back.

I know. I bought his book, and he’s the real deal

I was meaning to post the article as a separate thread here. Just been very busy today. So it’s here, for people to see Senator Cruz’ softer side.
