Journalist Marcy Wheeler was the first to point out that Christie's timeline was off. While it was widely expected around the time of the 9/11 terror attacks that Bush would appoint Christie as a U.S. attorney, the former President didn't announce his intention to nominate Christie until December 2001. Christie was confirmed and began work as New Jersey's top prosecutor in January 2002.

I suppose there was a skip in his record because he said it at least twice during different chances to answer questions. Rand Paul is going to love this one.
Wow. That’s a big detail to get wrong, especially since he said it over and over during the debate.
He’s been toast since the man-love on the beach with Barry.
Oh yeah no doubt about that.
It’s Brian Williams bad, in my opinion. He made a big deal about being appointed on September 10th and how his world changed the next day.
Christie is a liar.
He wanted to reinvoke the emotions of September 11th by wrap himself in the flag in order to pretend he is a Patriot while he betrayed the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
LOL! You nailed it!
It’s a Brian Williams moment for Christie.
He is also a traitor to republicans. He spent over $175,000 on an attack ad that destroyed Tom Tancredo’s bid to be governor of Colorado and basically put Chickehpooper (D) back in office.
yea I would love to see the video of him saying this at the debate.. I remember the same thing..
Exactly. How do you confuse the day before 9/11 with some other day?
IIRC Hannity’s first day as a syndicated radio host was 9/10/2001. Maybe Crispy just confused the two.
Agreed, this is worse than the So-called Bridgegate kerfuffle...now he’s embellishing his record to score cheap political points in a debate...Chris Matthews leg will be tingling this week!
Yeah, so why invoke September 10, 2001? Did something truly happen then? Did he get named but not confirmed then? Or did Bush notify him that he would be nominated to the post on that date?
Yep and Christie has less than a 30% favor ability rating in his own state of New Jersey.

How did he make it to the top 10 presidential candidates, according to Fox News, is beyond me?
If Crispy is in the top 10 then the repulbicarats are in trouble.
Appointed US attorney by the president and can’t remember when? I doubt it.
Exactly. How do you confuse the day before 9/11 with some other day?

5 Chris Christie scandals that blow #Bridgegate out of the water
The New Jersey governor has reportedly used Hurricane Sandy relief money for political purposes, and so much worse

Last week, a Monmouth University poll found that 50 percent of New Jerseys adults believed Chris Christie was personally involved in the ongoing #Bridgegate scandal, a massive PR nightmare thats become synonymous with his career and likely nixed his chances of ever running for president.
Yet regardless of whether the governor played an important role in the decision to shut down lanes of the George Washington Bridge as an act of political retribution, he has without question racked up a long list of scandals in the half-decade since he assumed the role of New Jerseys chief executive, ones that even eclipse even #Bridgegate. They might not get Twitters attention, but they shouldnt be forgotten.
1) Since becoming governor, reports indicate he has grossly abused his expense account
2) He has allegedly used Hurricane Sandy relief money for political purposes
3) He has purportedly misused billions in Port Authority funds for unrelated projects in New Jersey
4) He has privatized the states public pension system, enriching wealthy business interests at the expense of taxpayers and state workers
5) He has reportedly blocked reforms that would clean up New Jerseys government
Does he not remember where he was and what he was doing on 9/11?
